1979 PONTIAC ACADIAN
Permalink Closed

Just got this 1979 Acadian this week for only $800. Original paint with very little rust. Got it from the son of the guy that had it. It was just cert. in Augest and his dad died not long  after. It has new exhaust and tires when i bought it and was well looked after and oil yearly. I need a few parts and don't know what they are called but they go between the bumper and the fender and are plastic. I also need a glove box door and latch that it hookes on, the front Pontiac symbol on the grile, the dash top and the part that goes around the gauges.

Wow, looks to be in great shape, congrats! (After seeing all the big Pontiacs on this site, seeing the size of this one makes me think I might be able to find your missing pieces on my diecast collection. No disrespect intended.) Again, nice find!

I have been looking a long time for one of those. I watch Kijiji here all the time but never affordable. I want a manual trans model.

Good score!

Great score! I think you will have a blast with that car.\

The Chevette is the Chevrolet counterpart down here. They sold the Acadian as a T-1000 at the Pontiac Dealers. You might check ebay for parts.

I had a 79 Acadian and it did not have a glove box door.
It was an extra cost option.
It was not until the early 80's they came with one as standard equipment.

Interestingly,GM's T car platform was shared in many other countries around the world.
It is quite possible it may had been the first "world car" platform.
GM's Brazil,Japan,Germany,England, and Austrailia divisions all implemented their own versions of this popular body.

I was thinking it may have not had a glove box door from the factory because it is a basic car with no extras not even a radio but does have rear defoger in the window.

Jimmy, you seem to have an eclectic collection of cars there, late '70s Aspen/Volare, '58 Pontiac and the Caddie hearse, sweet.

I like the wheel covers on your Acadian, and the colour combination.
