Cassette Tape Player option available in 71 models in U.S. but not till 72 in Canada?

I just looked at my 71 Pontiac "Advance Info Ordering Guide" dated May, 1970 and it lists Option code 414 as "cassette tape player, industry exclusive, available all models with radio." When I looked at the Canadian 71 Lemans brochure, it does not mention the tape player but shows up in the 72 Lemans brochure. Can anybody give an explanation for this? confuse

Anybody have any info on this? All the info I have is for the American Pontiacs.

I've seen the cassette players on ebay, they usually go for a few bucks.   Keep in mind the brochures are printed well in advance of the car being produced, so they're not always 100% accurate.
