Help, my computer keyboard is screwed up!
Permalink Closed

I have hit a key here that I shouldn`t have. Notice the apostrophe in the last sentence. It is a French accent I think. The proper apostrophe is gone.

When I hit shift and want to make a question mark, this is what I get    É

The symbol for the word *at* above the number 2 gives me this  "

Anyone know what I did and how I can reverse it ÉÉÉ  (Those are my question marks now!!!)

Mine did a ton of wonky things, just like you describe Carl. I had Vista. What a dog. Couldn't post on Cp without jumping through hoops.
Replaced it with Windows 7 at Christmas.
What a difference! Like having a new high performance PC!

Exactly! My fingers got tangled up, just like always, and suddenly I get this ÉÉÉÉ instead of question marks!

I`m sure it`s converted to French but I have no idea how I did it...

Carl
About a week ago I also had the exact issue. Thought maybe my computer
caught a virus or something. Shut it down and the next day was fine. Must
of just needed a good nights rest.

Well Carl, you are the fortunate soul to be imparted with the knowledge of my 10,000th post.

You are absolutely correct in that you have placed the keyboard on French mode inadvertently.

If you have a look on the tool bar you will see a few icons to the left of all the usual icons for wireless, printer, volume etc.

You should see the letters FR there when the key board is in French mode. If you take your mouse and place the cursor on the FR and click a drop down menu will appear and you will see EN as an option. That means English. Just click that EN and you will be back in business.

Well, I didn't find it but I closed my Firefox windows, re-opened and voila, I'm not French anymore....

Hey, wait a minute! Voila is French, isn't it?????

Never mind, it's bedtime!

Me neither.
Your screen is different. Maybe because I upgraded to Windows 7.
Oh and Congrats on your 10000
