I thought the Heavy Chevy was a 350 / 4 speed package. There is an orange one in Timmins that the original owner still owns with everything all original including spark plug wires. He traded in a 1964 Impala Super Sport on the heavy chevt at Calvert
motors in iroquois Falls.

Gorgeous car   the price is a little HEAVY (pun intended)  I think for 32,000 i can gt a SS car    Heavy Chevy was el cheapo package to beat insurance

Because SS models suffered heavy insurance surcharges, Chevrolet introduced the "Heavy Chevy" at midyear available with any V-8 engine "except" the 454, which was exclusive to SS models.

Heavy Chevy The Very Sporty Chevelle

This is our new one, introduced the middle of 1971 and already a favorite. It's built around a Chevelle Sport Coupe

See the difference? You get a special understated black grille. A domed hood with lock pins. Special side striping and 14" X 6" rally-type wheels with special center caps and bright lug nuts. It's available only with a V8 engine (you wouldn't want it any other way). The Turbo-Fire 307 is standard, but you can order from three others including our Turbo-Jet 350. If that seems like a large choice, it is. But we know how it's fun to be choosey when you buy a new car.

Some other options you can order: special instrumentation including a clock, tachometer, ammeter and temperature gauge. And if you're that serious you'll want to look into our Positraction rear axle, wide-ratio 4-Speed transmission and power disc/drum brakes. you see, choosing is what the Heavy Chevy is all about. Settle for its looks or make it a h-e-a-v-y Heavy Chevy with options.

Buddy from town had a light green Heavy Chevy package......sure stuck out amoungst the SS crowd.

Very nice car. Its a nice change from the SS. It seems like every car at the local car shows are SS cars. Like no other models were ever made. Looks like they took a page from the GTO Judge  with the stripping.

yes I owned it for 7 years (second longest I owned a car-i loved it) of 300 + cars its honestly the only one I truly wish I kept

I like the Heavy Chevy especially in yellow. I don't remember ever seeing a yellow one. I thought these were all small blocks too ???

Had a green one back in 1980, 1st car I owned and the nicest - it had the original 307, SS hood as shown. Very quick on takeoff

I always liked the Heavy Chevy package; used to be a few of them in my area, along with Rally Novas and Ventura Sprints.
