WANTED 67 Beaumont engine compartment photos?

Can anyone send me or post photos of an original V8 small block engine bay? I want to see what colors and how they came from factory. Air cleaner and motor and firewall and inner fenders. Thanks BOSSY

Hi, I'm sure a few others will chime in with more resto experience than myself (my engine bay is modded, but i did own an untouched engine bay 67 sd 283 car)... but I would suggest the engine bay finishes are identical to a sbc 1967 chevelle, except for the body colour firewall being the only difference. I would want "Beaumontguru" to confirm the rad cradle finish...from his former 4dr...

From Team Chevelle:
frame and upper/lower control arms and upper shafts-semigloss black
front coil springs-gloss black or natural(better detail contrast)
firewall, body colour
inner fenders, radiator support-semigloss black
radiator and fan-gloss black
fan clutch-natural aluminum
radiator shroud-natural black plastic or gloss black
steering box-natural cast iron gray
steering linkage-natural steel
front sway bar-natural cast iron gray
heater or AC housing-semigloss black
hood hinges, latch, catch and springs- gray phosphate plated
brackets and steel pulleys-semi gloss or gloss black(gloss gives more detail contrast)
cast iron pulleys- natural cast iron
master cylinder- natural cast iron(some use gloss black)
brake booster-gold cadmium plated(master cylinder lid also)
windshield wiper motor-gloss black
alternator- natural aluminum
power steering pump-gloss black
AC compressor-semigloss black
steering column shaft-natural steel
horns- gloss black
coil- gloss black
voltage regulator-gloss black
distributor- natural aluminum with gloss black cap
fuel and brake lines-natural steel

I would agree,  semi gloss on all the surroundings.

There are tones of diffent paint colors on the actual engine,

For example on a canadian car, the oil fill tube and cap are orange.
The pulleys on canadian cars were silver zinc or natural steel,  but i think that color looks terrible, so i have always gone with black.

The canadian coils were aluminum in construction and left the natural aluminium,  but i think 67 was the first year for the regular black steel ones.

The distributor tags say "delco remy canada"

The jack instruction are unique for canada.  They are avail repro from jimosborn.com

Thanks for posting those pics Dave... i did remember something about the cradle, but obviously it's original colour is black (i couldn't remember). After looking at the pics, it was the holes on the top of the cradle that are factory and unused, I thought mine were added for the hoodpins by the previous owner. Personally i really like the painted firewalls on the canadian cars, I think it looks way better than the black firewalls on the US cars...

Depending on the type of restoration you are doing, most guys don't get into the 'overspray' on the engine that the factory may have had... like on aluminum intakes, exhaust manifolds, etc.etc.

Also in 1967 it was the first year for hte aircleaner being the same as a US car.
So that makes it easy for you!

I've wondered about the 67 alternator bracket. Ive seen  both orange and black.
so i am not sure.

Spark plug heat shields were natural zinc for sure.

Did your 327 come with the real 327 valve covers? or are the plain ones stock for 67.

I know that pre-66 cars in canada had the unique 327 covers for sure.

I'm not sure if you're asking me about the above, but if you are, what you see is what was there when I bought car in 1968.Original valve covers (Chevelle stickers though), heat shields were orange, alternator bracket orange.Power brakes and steering were not originally on car.Another thing on car was the fibreglass-like sound muffling material in the 3 cavities on the underside of the hood.

I think up to and including '66 the valve covers had the drip indentation. My understanding is that they changed in '67...

Here are pictures of my 67 Beaumont SD  396/325.  I tried to get it as close to stock as I could.  This is Ken's old car.

Can't figure out how to copy it here, but anybody notice that the small blocks shown in the " '66 Pontiac's Powerful Performers " brochure (see 427carl's post above) have Ram's horn exhaust manifolds?

I don't recall seeing those on any Pontiacs/Beaumonts. None of the photos posted seem to have them either.

Edit - I'll try this...

The Pontiac Acadian Canso manifolds sweep back about 45 degrees on each side. Also, the alternatior bracket mounting boss is unique on them as well.

If you were refering to the ad above with the 4 engines,  they are all for fullsize.
you can tell by the configurations of the exhaust, oilpan, brackets, etc, etc,

The engine in my car is out of a Canadian 67 Impalla. I had to find a doner 283 for the correct small block manifolds, oil pan and other parts I can't remember. I was just having a little fun with the "it's not a pontiac" thing
