Dumb question

How do you remove the knobs on the light switch, wipers etc. on a 65??
I think they are just pushed on the shaft but don't want to break them

thanks

I'm guessing that there should be a very inconspicuous tiny screw on the side of the knob somewhere?

THERE ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS HERE!!
THE LIGHT KNOB MY HAVE TO BE REMOVED
WITH THE WHOLE SHAFT BY PUSHING A PIN ON THE SIDE
OF THE SWITCH AND PULL THE KNOB AND SHAFT OUT TOGETHER.

typically this is how GM did their light switch knobs.    The knob is attached to a shaft which goes in to the light switch.   Reach in behind the dash, and there should be a small button on the side of the light switch.   Pull the knob out to turn on the lights, push the small button (it's spring loaded) and pull the knob/shaft all the way out.     I can't offer comment on the wiper knob.

As far as I've seen, the wiper knob is that tiny set screw as mentioned.

Thanks guys, I just came in from the garage. The wiper button does indeed have a set screw and I will try what you suggested on the light switch

yep... the light switch is a spring loaded button on the switch itself.. push it.. and pull the knob and shaft unit out.. then make a custom socket with "ears" to remove the nut.. or a largh flat screw driver... or.. or..

it's all good..

and not a dumb question in the house man.. it's all good.. lots of great brains on this site to help.

on the 63/64 the button for the light sw is either on the top or bottom of the sw.
the other knobs for heater etc have a small clip that it spring loaded at the base of the knob
that is splined onto the shaft.
