Today I looked at a 89 Cadillac Eldorado beritze (sp) gold edition with sort of a continental kit looks like a nice straight car, whats it worth being that old,
interior looks good, some wear to the driver seat, drivers armrest torn other than that I have not called to even ask the asking price
looking for ballpark #'s , I currently drive a 4 wheel drive 3/4 ton truck which suck right now for mileage
would like to get something cheap, and have never owned a luxury type vehicle
That year of Eldorado has a 4.5 litre V8. This engine was introduced after the serious reliabilty problems with the HT4100 V8. The 4.5 is an aluminum block with cast iron cylinder sleeves and cylinder heads. This rectified the reliability and oil and coolant leaking issues of the HT41000. The engine in 1989 produced 155 net HP and 240 lb-ft of torque at a low 2800 rpm. the 1989 Eldo is not a large car and as a result the car could accelerate rather well hitting 100 kph in under 9 seconds. Improvements were made in the engine each year after introduction and it maxed out at 200 HP and 4.9 litres in 1991 which allowed the car to hit 100 kph in 8 seconds. (for Comparison an LT1 Fleetwood does this in under 9 seconds and a Northstar Eldo does this in under 7 seconds) The Northstar was introduced in 1993 and the 4.5/4.9 was phased out.
The styling of the 1989 has always been a bit of an enigma because it shared the same basic outward appearance with the Grand Am, Somerset, Skylark coupes which cost several thousands less. This means they can be picked up very inexpensively now.

if its in good shape with average mileage, about $1200-$1500. if its exceptional, maybe as high as 2k? but its hard to say without seeing it. i,ve seen some of those not sell at $500. it just depends on that particular car
427carl, thanks dont know how you do it but that was the same car I was looking at at that asking price I will not even consider it, I just need something thats got better gas mileage than the truck for tooling around
