BOBCAT 610 skid steer ..anyone have experience ?
Permalink Closed

Hi ya ! I'm going to go look at  a Bobcat 610 skid steer. It has a rebuilt engine with 200 hours on it  4 cyl. Wisconsin 20 HP. lifts 1000 lbs. They were built from 72 to 81 , or so.

I'm looking to move some dirt and sand , medium landscaping at my place.

It's listed for $5500,  hard to compare, because of it's age, not a lot of them out there for sale anymore. statedside . the lowest I found was $3500.

I could buy something biggerand newer,   but would end up selling it after the landscaping because of price.  this one, if it will do the work, I would most likely keep .

front Aux. Hydraulics, and standard attachments fit, open air cab.

Looks like it has been used to clean barns most of its life??

Opinions and recommendations appreciated !!!!!

If you can wait until Friday of this week, my skid steer mechanic will be back from vacation.  He is a factory trained bobcat tech, snagged him about a year ago for our shop.  Lives and breathes bobcat.  But from my position on that unit, check it out carefully.  Be a hard sell when your finished.  I would recommend a used 773 if you really want to buy.  But be careful, they can be very expensive to repair and hard to find someone who can do it as well, other than a factory store. Just a suggestion, might want to consider to rent one as you need it, if you are only planning on one season.  Lots of tax benefits that way as well.

5500.00 is not a bad price after you look at what the rental rates are, the only problem seems to be you never get the project done in the original estimate, so the rental charges add up fast. how wide is the 610 I have a mustang 2012 thats only 3 feet wide, would the 610 even fit through your gates or will you have to rip out some fence pannels to get it through. if you get it have fun I know I do

thats a fair price. they seem to keep thier value around the $5k mark. if you decide to sell it later, you wont have a problem getting you money back.

Looks very similar in spec to mine MUSTANG 2012.
same wheel base of very close I think mine is 36"
What I like about mine is I can pull a 180 with it inside my trailer, just got to raise the bucket
to clear the siderails. My width is only 36" so it can go through small gates.

THanks Bill, I'm going to look at the ol girl tomorrow afternoon, a rancher owns it , so I'll be able to tell pretty quick if he took care of it.

the 610 is in my budget, I have enough landscaping to do on my 1 acre that it makes it worth while to have one around for the next 3 years or so...

well,, I brought home the bobcat 610 today,, the ol girl needs some TLC,, but should do the job, also bought a grapple with it, should be a huge help cleaning up the brush around here after I cleared the lot last year to build 'the shed' !!

proceeds from selling my 57 Pontiac are now invested in a Vintage Bobcat... I have a problem ,,,,,

If only there was a help group I could reach out to.....LOL.
