Anyone go? Our member Lotasatas had a car on display, his 71 Formula 400. I only had my blackberry so not too many photos. Here's a Camaro conversion into a Trans Am.

Yes that's the one Paul has on display at the Icons Camaro/Firebird display on level 700. I first saw that car in his shop about two months ago, it's a pretty rare car.

I was there on Thursday, posted that Firebird conversion. It was good to see the younger crowd show excitement at the cruisenationals.

Oh I see, I went back and found your post, I have been away a lot lately.

My observation was that people couldn't get out of the cruise nationals area fast enough. My son did like the 50's Chevy Pick Up though.

I spent a lot of time at the Cadillacs talking to the Product Specialist. The CTS V is quite a car and even the regular CTS is a very nice package well priced. I was a bit shocked to see that the Escalades are $116,000 now and even to replace my Suburban would be $78,000. The bargin to me was the Buick Lucerne starting at $29,000. I learned that the DTS, my model will only be produced for one year more then replaced with a new full sized updated sedan.

Those Formula cars are awesome. The hood is my favourite of all the second gen birds. Prefer it over the T/A shaker hood. It sure seems like it inspired the 4th gen WS6 ramair hood. When I was 15, the neighbor kid who was a year older, had a 70 Formula 400 for his first car. It was a little rough but it had no problem laying rubber. Many of great memories whenever I see a 70 Formula car.

You'd really have to have a lot of money to burn to plop down over a hundred grand for an Escalade. I'd love to see the profit margin on one of those!

Yup, what ever happened to the rule of thumb about buying new cars - one third of your annual income was the maximum to spend.

This was years ago, but I think what banks were recommending back in the day.

Following this old rule the average Escalade owner should earn $350,000 per annum to qualify. Gulp!
