ANYBODY HAVE INFO ON A DEALER NAMED "LYNN WOOD CHEVROLET OLDSMOBILE" IN CALGARY AB. MY GM DOCUMENTS LIST THEM AS THE DEALER FOR MY 1969 2+2. I GOOGLED THE NAME AND ONLY FOUND A REFERENCE FROM THE BBB THAT LISTS IT AS CLOSED, BBB ALSO SAID IT WAS OPENED IN 1981. HOW COULD MY CAR BE DELIVERED TO OR ORDERED BY A DEALER THAT DID NOT YET EXIST? ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. ALSO WOULD LIKE TO FIND A DEALER EMBLEM FROM THEM IF SOMEONE HAS ONE. SOMEONE MUST HAVE HEARD OF THEM??? THANKS.
You are right......that dealership is long gone. Lynn Wood Chevrolet was bought out by the now gargantuan C.M.P. which is Calgary Motor Products located at 16 Avenue and 32 Street N.E.
It may have been a few years later than 1981 as I had my 1981 Vette there for warranty A/C work in about 1983 or so. I'm sure the place closed down shortly after that tho. There were some various other brand dealerships attempt unsuccessfully to operate on the same property, as I found access really was bad to get in.
Prior to Lynn Wood, I think the place was Ted Brooks Chevrolet.
Perhaps there's some other Calgary based members out there who can add some info?

Delta Tango is right, Lynn Wood Chev-Olds was on 16th Avenue NE just up the hill from Deerfoot Trail, in the building that was once Ted Brooks Chevrolet. I remember buying a few things at the parts counter of Lynn Wood in the early 90's. Prior to Ted Brooks being on 16th Avenue NE, they were along Center Street North in Calgary (at about 13th avenue on the west side of the street, so NW). A buddy of mine has a 70 LS6 Chevelle, it was originally sold at Ted Brooks Chev Olds.
I think when Lynwood moved out Ted Brooks Chev Olds took over. I don.t know if Ted Brooks bought it or not, It was a long time ago. They were on the corner of 16 Ave. and 19 St.
oops , read the prior post . maybe I am wrong on the order of who was there first

Prior to Ted Brooks buying the franchise it was Fowlie Chevrolet. You might have trouble finding a dealer emblem for Ted Brooks. As I remember it was a decal. But somebody has to have a trunk lid they are saving so you just need to keep looking.
I AM LOOKING FOR A LYNN WOOD EMBLEM. I ASSUME IT IS METAL AS THERE IS 2 HOLES IN THE TRUNK LID WERE I BELIEVE IT WAS MOUNTED. THANKS PETE, I GUESS I'M NOT SO GOOD AT GOOGLING.
Fowlie Motor Sales Limited 1413 Centre St. N. Calgary Alta.
* Fowlie had a location in Drumheller too?.
this makes sense, as that's where Ted Brooks was. So, I think this is the order: 1. Fowlie Motor Sales was on Center St. N. 2. At some time, Fowlie Motor Sales became Ted Brooks Chev Olds (prior to 1970 as my buddy's 70 LS6 Chevelle was bought at Ted Brooks). 3. During the 1970's or very early 80's, Ted Brooks Chev Olds moved out to 16th Avenue & 19th Street NE. 4. Sometime after that Ted Brooks Chev Olds became Lynn Wood Chev Olds. 5. After Lynn Wood Chev Olds, the building was used for various things.
So, as far as dealer emblems, I'd think you should be looking for a Ted Brooks Chev Olds sticker. And yes, they were a sticker not an emblem. I remember them on trunk lids of cars when I was a kid, but haven't seen one in years.

WHY WOULD THE GM DOCUMENTS SHOW LYNN WOOD AS THE DEALER? THERE IS 2 HOLES IN THE TRUNK LID THAT I AM ASSUMING HAD A DEALER EMBLEM. AM I GETTING THIS RIGHT THEN, LYNN WOOD WOULD NOT YET BE IN BUSINESS IN 1969? NOW I'M REALLY CONFUSED.
I worked at Fowlie in 1969. I remember selling a new 1970 Chevelle to a young guy who worked at a bank downtown. He had to use GMAC to finance the car because the bank wouldn't lend him the money. Ted Brooks bought it some time after that. If you really need to know the exact date he bought it then a trip to the Public Library is in order. You can peruse the Calgary Herald archives and the cars ads will tell the tale.

If the Dealer Code this car was shipped to in 1969 remained w/ the business and used over the years of different owners including Lynn Wood, GM Vintage may've indicated them as the delivering dealer by using Dealer Code Listing information from later years when matching the Code shown w/ your Vin on their microfishe page?. Do you have the actual Dealer Code #?.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR OFF A MEMBER WHO SAID HE BOUGHT IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER SO I DON'T THINK IT WAS EVER ON ANOTHER LOT. I ALSO THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A TRADE BETWEEN DEALERS WHEN NEW, AFTER TALKING TO GERRY EALIER, IT SEEMS WHILE IT IS A COMMON PRACTISE TODAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNLIKELY BACK THEN. I WILL CALL MR. ZAPORA ON MONDAY AND SEE IF HE CAN HELP CLARIFY. AGAIN THANKS FOR TRYING TO HELP.
HAHA, I read this thread and forgot all about the Lynnwood decal on that truck
Thanks Fred
