Gorgeous Trans Am!

Last summer I looked at a 78 Trans Am W72 4 speed car that was still owned by the original owner for a fellow in Montreal. Well, he bought the car and it underwent a full restoration this winter. He sent me some photos that I thought I'd share with you folks.
The original wheels and tires are in safe storage.

How'd you like to have these cars?

I forgot to mention it's a WS6 car. I wonder how many WS6/W72 4 speed cars were sold in Canada? This one also has AC, power windows, locks etc etc.
The new owner is a great guy. He mentioned another 78 that he'll be selling when it comes out of storage. I'll post the details on here when I get them.

Man, now I remember why I loved those so much when they were new. That looks like it's right off the show room floor! (Thanks for posting)

I had two of these a 77 and a 78 a couple years back wanted to keep one guess I should have

77 was an SE black on black 4-speed L78 with hurst hatch, deluxe interior (rear console) pw,PDL,Am/Fm 8 track, A/C--it lives in Oshawa now

78 was a black on gold W72 auto with WS6 A/C,PW,AM/FM PDL-most of the rear original paint was stripped off the buyer put a battery in and drove it home to Dartmouth N.S. on New Year's eve !

really shoulda kept one-I had a cube van full of parts from 5-6 parts cars-lotsa e-baying that year !

I'm a huge fan of Trans Am's thanks to the Bandit! That is a great collection he has. All my favorite color too!

Bought a new 78 with just the 400 motor, kicking my butt that I didn't get the TA after some of the guys bought the formula with the TA 4 speeds, I could've crawled into a hole

I'm still a fan today of these cars because of that movie.  This thing is a beauty!!!

For the record:  Jackie Gleason deserved an Oscar for his role as Buford T. Justice.

Did anyone catch American Trucker on Speed last Thursday? They recreated the Bandit run from Atlanta to Texarkana usning a replica rig and a Year One Bandit TA. Good episode. You can watch some of it here:

I cought it. Cool that they were talking to Jerry Reeds daughter while they were moving. Missed the end of it due to my son's hockey practice. Did they make it?

Yes they did make it. It was touch and go for a while as the truck had some mechanical issues.

There is a Bandit Run ( http://www.motortopia.com/car-groups/the-bandit-run-775 )  every April for Trans Am owners to partake in down south.   The president of the Calgary Firebird Club has been a participant for the past two years.  He is the original owner of a Black 77 TA SE that is very unique with a red interior.  Here are a couple pics from last years run.  The first one is on Daytona beach and it is pretty obvious which car belongs to Dave.

Very neat, I caught that episode the other night as well. Rekindled my lust for one of these. ALthought I'd rather have another colour then black.
