same  story   for  me  Lefty   ,  300.00   in  May   1983  !!biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

floors   where shot   in part
right hand rear quarter  also
rust at the  end of the fenders  by the bumper  also on the lower fender by  the front wheel.

bent rear bumper  ,  very  nice 76 olds buckets seat  UURRRRRGH !
it   ran so  nice , after a year  i parked it  and starte work  on  it   on  a very part time basis.

it  was completed in 1988   and parked in 1989 when the rear brake line  went
back in service in 1993  on a very  occasional  basis  until 2004   when the rust came back  AGAIN  . So  i stripped  it  to  do the  body  ( cut out all the  rust )and
paint it.

need to finsh  the trunk pans  and  braces  , change the gas tank   this spring

i am  refreshing  the 283   this spring  with  some mild  goodys

next year the whole interior ( issssssshhhhhhh )   here comes the money  pit  !!!!!   and  i will finish the trim  assembly  ( bumpers  molding  etc )

thats  it  folks

I just dug out the paper work. I purchased my '66 in Nov of 1983, for $2,500.00.
-Rebuilt the engine in '85 for $829.00
-Body and paint done in '88 for $2,200.00.
-In 2010 I replaced the 20 year old tires and 40 year old rims for about $1,000.00.
-I also recently replaced the old after market steering wheel with an original survivor wheel.

As a result, so far I am now into this money pit for upwards of $8,000.00 (all inclusive). To make things worse, I am likely spending about $1,200.00 on the interior this spring. And another $30.00 worth of Spray Nine and console paint. (When will it end? LOL).

This car clearly doesn't owe me anything.

"$250.00, $300.00 and $200.00"... all purchased in the '80's? The same era that I paid $2,500.00! What the heck was I thinking?!!! (Buyers remorse settles in...)

Bought mine in '87 (I was in grade 9) paid $1100...

he was asking $1000obo, I was the first one to look at it, I knew it was a good deal and tried to haggle him down, he said he'd hold onto it for the weekend to see what he could get, so I offered $100 over asking to seal the deal!!

but it all depends what condition  the cars was , and   how  ::   alert ::   was the  seller  what  is knowledge    of the  value  of the car

mine  was a beater   back  then  , i went  to town  hall  to  pay  a ticket   ans had noticed the car always parked there

i simply  asked................who would  be the owner  of that Beaumont  out there  ???? (  with the nice 76 olds buckets  with  the  very high  back rests  lolll)

the  lady  came up  to  me and  said  i ts  my  car ........................it was her fathers car  who  had pasted  away  , i made the  deal  on the  spot   and  pick it up  the day after .

so....................that makes my  a proud  3 rd  owner   with  all the  cars documentation   and  protecto plate  etc

I bought mine the better part of 12 years ago.  It was part race car Mini tubs/no back seat, big solid lifter motor (cam failed same summer) had a nice paint job and looked pretty straight. (found out later it has enough bondo to build another complete car in it.) It drove like a yaught (no power steering no power brakes, no sway bars) But...
It sounded awesome and looked great...Wish i knew then what i know now.

Since then replaced most of the interior, motor, suspention, rear end, bumpers, lenses, wheels and tires.  Err thats the short list.

Still on my to do list...

Have a rust free frame in my garage im gonna box and notch,
re-skin the whole car(in about 3 years after i build my monster garage)
lots more to do i dont even wanna think about right now.

Still even though i payed to much and keep having to dump loads of $$ at it ive never enjoyed a car so much. Met loads of cool people because of it.

And doing this makes it all worth while.

CLICK ON THE PIC!!

Bought mine in 2000. Body was/is rust free. The guy I bought it from hadn't got it wet in the 7 years he owned it. I asked, "So how do you wash it?". Answer, "Well, it never gets dirty."...

I paid more than a lot of people would think I should have, but a rust-and-bondo-free body and frame were my prime objectives. I can do mechanical stuff, but I've never done body work - though I hope to give it a try one day.

Since buying it, I've put even more money into it - more than double the original price if I tally it all up (which I try not to do), but the original stuff is all tucked away safe and secure.

There's a never-ending list of wanna-haves and nice-to-gets, but I'm pretty happy with it as it sits - or stands on blocks as it currently is... Will spring ever come? (it's snowing again).

For the record, the photo's that were included when yours was a feature car, are amoung the nicest '66 Beaumont photo's that I've seen!  A great car that I would think has been worth every penny.
