should I let her go?

Local body guy offered me $1500 in body work for my roadmaster. Cars interior is near mint and has no rust. He wants to pull the driveline and scrap the rest. Thats about top buck for thses boats but I hate to see it ripped apart.

Boy, I'm with you. I hate to see it ripped apart. They are terrific cars.

Reality is, you will be lucky to get $1500 out of it though. It pains me to see a boat sink.....!

What year is it? If you expect bodywork in the future, and like his work, I would in a heartbeat. Those trades are near impossible to find when you go looking.

What exactly does $1500.00 worth of body work get you ? Is it like 15hrs x $100.00 per hr or is it more like  I will do this much work for this amount of money. Deals like this are fine but be sure it's in writing.

if you decide to trade don't give it to him until the body work is complete!

I once traded a wall lettering job for a paint job on my work van.

Straightforward deal. I do this. You do that. Was a good swap for both us.

Horse trading is good as long as both parties are on the same page.

As far as him tearing out the drivetrain? What do you care? It will be his car!

I would pin him down to how much work he will do rather than so much an hour and yes, body work done before handing over the car. He is very good at what he does so no problem with his work. Most of what needs done is body panals welded in.
