Thinking about having Vintage Air installed in my 66 Beaumont. Does anyone have any knowledge about what is involved, cost and where can you buy it etc? How well does it work? I am thinking of going to Hot August nights this year again, and it was about hot (104 ) every day last time I went. Would the air make the car run any hotter? this was also a bit of an issue last time as well.
Thanks
I am interested too. I have a black interior, and cant tolerate the heat as well as I used to. The company Vintage Air has what you need. It can at least tell you what is involved and what it will cost. I cant comment on performance, or how your car will perform after the installation. I am not the guy with your answers, but I am interested to hear from those who know also.
My Dad has a Vintage air unit in his 56 Chevy Sedan Delivery. Works great he loves it. Has never had to have it on full cold yet, about half throttle at most. His only regret has been not doing it sooner.

I have a Vintage Air Unit (air, heat and defrost $1200 U.S) in my 1966 Acadian, it is a great unit and works very good. You can get a retro fit unit from them r66sd, should be the same as a Chevelle.

I have a Vintage heat air defrost unit in my 67 Beaumont. It works great even with the original dash unit for the Beaumont. I added a fan shroud, not sure if I need to or not, and it runs at 190 idling in traffic and cruisin on highway runs at 180. I run it on medium and then low. Also the tech support is a great help with instillation. This unit replaced the original heater box. It now has a flat fire wall. The only thing is you loose most of your glove box. The glove box is now only about 2" deep. I think this whole unit was about $1100.00 but well worth it. It is a custom made unit just for the 66-67 Pontiacs. They have other units also.
If you get one make sure you order the control for a GTO and not the Chevelle. I ordered a center dual vent for below the dash so I did not have to cut the dash.
Thanks for the info, I am going to check on the units with Vintage Air they seem to be reasonably priced, will be sure to check on GTO or Lemans and not chevelle.
