Painting Steering Wheel.

What is the best way to paint a steering wheel.

In my Sales Lit is says Two-Tone Steering wheel on Beaumont SD.

I have seen a blue Two-tone but never a red one

I got a hold of a blue one from menno and i want to paint it Red

mine has shrunk so the rings fell oput and the gaps are too wide.

Might try two differrent reds to see how it would look.

Should i use the same paint as the interior metal was painted ?

Thanks

Believe it should be a good quality lacquer so that it penetrates into the plastic. But others will know.

Fill all the hairline cracks with any good 2 part epoxy

Sand the living crap out of it.

Hit it with an "adhesion promoter" for plastic , avail at any good bodyshop.

Then prime with good primer

then paint with your dash paint,

Using automotive paint with a hardner helps.

The hardner will help to make the paint last longer,  spraybombs stay too soft and the sweat from your hands will rub it of and soften it faster.

I had a body shop paint a steering wheel for me in a car that I put at least 25,000 miles on and it still looked perfect.

I would say once again the beaumontguru has some good advice!!!

I would vote for a bright red (your interior colour) and dark red two tone wheel.

sounds like a better plan, i have lots of the red from interior left over will have to figure out a way to tint a small amount of it darker
I think it will be lighter (original colour) on top and bottom. and darker on left and right sides.
thanks again for all the help guys !!

I have seen several of the original red Nova wheels with stainless grommets and they were all two shades of red on a red car with red interior.
