Any Skype users here?

If so, I have a question.

If I have a webcam set up, can I dial up more than one guy at the same time? In other words, can it "talk" to a number of Skype users at the same time, kind of like a conference call?

Yes, you can do it, but I think it might be a "paid" service. I don't use a webcam - I use it for Skype calls and for long distance calls to North America (unlimited for a yearly fee).

I am just rebuilding my laptop and I'll need to re-install Skype so I can double check in a little while...

 Ok, thanks.

The reason I ask is a week or so from now when I will likely be monitoring our sewer pump using Skype, I will likely get a couple of people who sit at a computer all day to help me monitor if there is a way to do it.

a faster way to vidchat is Stickam, but you can conference in people using Skype too. A group I play web battles with uses a Skype chatroom in text mode for coordinating the battles

Finished installing and I was right, the multiple view video conferencing is an optional, pay-service. The free version includes only one-on-one video conferencing.

Skype has a free 7 day trial, or you can get a Day Pass for $4.99, or buy a monthly subscription for $8.99.

Any chance you could stream the video to Skype to one person and use another video conferencing utility to a second?

There might also be some free web-cam hosting sites?

What might be worth a try is to set up a video conference with someone in Skype - where they see your video but they are not running a camera - then bring in a second person with the same set up. All 3 would see the same video, but there's technically no 3 way video conference...

Like I say, I don't use the camera so I'm guessing... Good luck!

Wes
