It was a very stressful day for me. I had a dentist appointment at 8am in London. Rick and Jan, the new owners of the Laurentian were sheduled to come at around 9:30 to pick up the car. I emerged from the dentist office at 9am to find about 3cm of snow on the ground and it still coming down heavily. The roads were really slippery. I thought there was no way the Laurentian can drive 90 minutes home in this crap. When I got home Rick and Jan were already at my house. I was really against the car leaving in this weather. Rick assured me they'd be very careful and would give the car a good cleaning when they got home. We went to the MTO and Rick got his trip permit. Luckily by then it was about 11am and the roads were just wet and the snow had stopped falling.
I had to get a couple of farewell shots. In doing so I have determined that my camera is junk and I'm getting a new one. It doesn't seem to take clear photos anymore
The new proud owners:
My final view of the car (it left a bit of a knot in my gut)
At least I know she is in good hands. Jan was kind enough to call and tell us the trip home went very well. Aside from old paint this car is one great ol' Poncho. When I had it in for the safety inspection I was again amazed at how solid this car is.
If you live near Caledon, you just might see the car at local cruise nights. Rick and Jan plan on taking it to all the local shows.
Sad to see it go, But glad its with good owners. Hopefully they will sign up here...You did give them a business card, Right.... LOL

I still remember the day you and I went to get the car driving down the 401. Im sad to see it go too. Watching someone else drive the car away always sucks. No matter how much cash in your pocket. Call me for the next road trip if you decide to buy something again.
You will never forget good times with it, but on the bright side, you wont have to concern yourself with the 'hood gap' and you got out of the dentists office by 9! Another one will come by when the time is right.
Congratulations on the sale and helping someone else realize their dreams with the Laurentian. Thinking about the car i learned to drive in there were two. One was my dad's 83' Century, the other was the driving instructor's 91 Firefly. Highly doubt either of those are ever going to be collectible...especially that Firefly! A base model with standard steering no less, i'm surprised it was an automatic.

From what I remember, I was at GM when they were new, they were all manual steering.
69 Chevelle, 454 +30 over, 750 holley, Turbo 400 trans, new 12 bolt Auburn Pro rear end, 3:31 gears, Pete Jackson gear drive, new B&M ratchet shifter. Works really well, and has surprisingly good fuel mileage. Frame is very solid and clean. Has been in storage for the last 5 yrs. $8500 O.B.O. Also will consider trades for 20-24 foot enclosed car hauler of equal value, no junk. EMAIL.... kbarbour@cogeco.ca 613-342-4893. NOTE: this is NOT a numbers matching car!! It is a re-badged Pontiac Beaumont, everything has been changed right down to the SS hood. Thanks just did not want to mislead anyone. What a shame that he converted that one to a Chevelle. I'd like to find something fairly local. My gut feeling is that if I'm patient something good will come along.
