Anyone know what glue to use or what method to use to repair the plastic on a center console? It has some cracks and some broken off bits that need repair...thanks
Use a two part urathane compound, works great. There are many different brands on the market but I'm sure you will need a rigid mix for a console. Get some metal tape to support your pieces and the new material, I've done lots of this type of repair.
Rigid Finishing Filler Kit EF462 For final finishing of any and all rigid or semi rigid plastics. Apply to small scratches, gouges and minor imperfections. Superior sanding qualities, sands to an ultra fine finish. Work time 7 to 8 min. Sands in 15 to 20 min (Depends on work conditions).
Any autobody supply store or maybe even Crappy Tire might have something. You can also buy stuff to re-texture the repaired area so it's not noticeable.
Mine has the whole back bit broken off of it...it's a 67 Parisienne 2+2. Wondering if I could fiberglass it..using long strand and then use body filler to smooth it out and sand it...
That would definitely work if I had the pieces, but alas I do not. I'm thinking the longhair fibreglass would work to allow me to repair the damage and give some structural rigidity as well...
I have the same problem with one of my consoles. Another bad thing that happened was people taking pliars and chewing away at the radio mount in the dash to put a different radio in. I have 3 of these ( special dashes ).
