B.C. Custom Car Show at Trade-Ex

Here is some pics from the show today one very nice Cheetah was there.

The 67 RS Camaro is my good friend Rob's car , we have been restoring it together for the last 2 years. We got a $100 bill on who wins at the 1/4 mile this summer...

I am glad you were able to take some pics. I made it for the afternoon but left my camera in another vehicle today so just observed. I think my favorite part was when they fired up those 6 dragsters one at a time and had a little noise happening. The way those engines twist when they give her a little rev is so cool. The one guy said he was between 2500 and 3000 horses, pretty impressive for a little country boy like me. The guys that did the smoke shows had a little power too but a couple minutes is all I need of that. I am thinking George Barris and Gene Winfield must be making a good portion of their living doing the Canadian car shows as everytime I see someone post some pictures either one or both of them are there. Brett Wagner from Pass Time seemed to be a cool character, funny how people just are able to fall into a role and make it work.

Jmont I hear ya... the burnout thing was neat for a few. I only got to go this afternoon so i missed the Nitro dragster fire up. My buddy Robs car was right across from where George Barris signing table was so he chatted him up alot. He said he is a pretty neat guy , but he does do the circuit, all of them do and they charge 5-10 bucks for their autograph. All in all it was a good show....

I saw his car, it is a very nice car.  I heard one guy tell his kid to hurry over and get George's autograph before he dies.  Somebody said he was in his mid eighties.

Ya he is but looking good still, he is around my Grandpa's age, Gramp's built alot of cars locally and is a Pioneer in BC in Hot Rodding and he knows George well. I like to hang with him as much as possible cause you never know when time runs out at their age..

My buddy up in Kelowna has a Cardinal Red Judge Vert and its a colum shift with a bench... It was common with the Verts to have the Bench so you could fit more people in it :>)   But... this one sure looks Lemans to me.. Front grills are not blacked out like a Judge and like you said Kim no Judge emblem on the glovebox..

If someone from ICBC saw that they would take his collector plates away for sure.. It looks like a nice car but I would of liked to be there closer to get a real look at the cowl and vin plate.... I bet you the driver never opened the hood either ;>)

It has to do with that partly.

It's an early SD (736 with A51 Sport Option) and those never came from Oshawa with the SS hood. That hood only came on 738 SD cars.

Or did they if Conroy ordered it that way...........

Your right there , the car was in the outside part of the show and hood was kept closed .... I'm not sure what colector status plate he is running , it might be a modified collector plate but those rims are not era correct. If his car get written off or catchs on fire he could lose his coverage for not staying within the boundaries of the colector plate rules ( Thats what I have heard )

It's too new for a modified collector.

By the way nice shots of the show

so this hood thing?

its possible conroy installed it ,somehow getting it possibly over the counter and painting it to match,

or is it possible it came on the car from Oshawa?

just think ?   the car was built on Halloween ,Oct.31st,  the SD396 cars were soon being tooled up, for November?

is it possible it was added at the factory as they managed to pull strings??????

just a though, we havnt seen any earlier 67 Cheetahs (as the gold one and the other green one are 738 cars),but the original photo verifies it was there pretty early on in its life.

so far the only photos ive seen of 66 cheetahs ,are flat hoods?

any ideas??
