Hmmm thought these came with a 293 l6 flathead, looks like engine may have been changed, should go back and see if they changed from torquetube to open driveline

I'm not an expert but would assume that it would've had a 239 flathead six like my 54.Someone may hve swapped in the powertrain from a u.s chevrolet of that year.It may still have the torque tube even with the chevy powertrain.Probably a fairly easy swap back then as it is basically a chevy from the firewall back.Possibly similar to mine as it is basically a 54 chevy from the firewall back and cdn pontiac from the firewall forward.

well either way for the $$$$ he is asking I might just buy it when my income tax return shows up, he say it runs which is more than my 50 does at the moment

yup 235 chevy. Might still have the tourque tube still too. Should be a bolt in but the wiring must have been fun to do plus the exaust is on the other side on a 239 flat. Someone figured it out it seems. First time I've seen this.

I will try to get some more info from the current owner, to see if he can shed some light on the situation

nothing wrong with the 235,just everything on the oppisite side with a 239,including the battery, carb, exhaust, etc. The good thing is that parts are way easier to find for the 235 and even a bunch of performance parts availible for the 235 which don't exsist for the 239.So by all means not a bad swap at all and it looks like it was well done.

They change the horn position, since the air filter take place further in the back of the engine compartement, they move it from the hood to the side.

They replace not only the engine from a chevy on this Pontiac, but the PG also is chevy, not canadian Pontiac.

Look a 54 chevy to me (engine).
