The Torpedo referance is realy a series and does not refer to the back. Not sure how the conection got made to the fast back or as they called them sedan coupe. I beleve the Torpedo series started around 1940 but not positive on that. Pontiac is the only one that used the Torpedo series name. Like fleetleader and streamliner there was the Torpedo series.
