That is pretty cool, Mr. Wright who lived across the street from us had one like this with the Vista Roof when I was a kid. It was Yellow and white. I never thouight about it having a big block but I suppose it could have. It was sweet, almost like a Cadillac to me then.

Can somebody tell me realistically how much worse the fuel economy would be with this motor versus a mild 283 2 bbl?

12 instead of 20 MPG. I'm not sure any BB will get 20 unless you have tall gears, a light foot , and flat land.

I remember that engine bay pic you sent me! (then checked your profile that said you were from Krydor!)
The 60 is up on jackstands and torn apart already. The engine was too far gone (it was a 61 block) so Ive been snooping around for a replacement. I'd love to use this hardtop as a loaner but the guy never answers his phone. We'll see I guess!
All's well though.

I am curious if this is one of my dads cars. The first car was his first bought new from Oshowa. It was a 60 Impala 4dr ht,tri-power 3-speed manual. It was white with red interior. He left that one in Powell River. The second car he bought in the 80s was a 6 cylinder with 2sp glide, white with red interior. I built a 348 with a Qjet carb and bolted to a 2sp glide kept the generator power steering and brakes factory added a clear dist. cap. I put short turbo mufflers under it which sounded good. When mom died he sold it cheap. I am not sure who bought it but it was sold from Salmon Arm in about 1992 - 1993. The car in Naniamo looks like it. If anybody knows more about this car, let me know.

Good morning..... I remember seeing a car very, very similar to this car in Powell River a number of years ago. It sat in a driveway outside in the weather for what seemed like forever. When I saw this listing, I emailed the owner and asked him if it had come from Powell River and he said yes it did.........hope this helps..........(pm sent)........Doug.

a friend had the exact same 4 door in Three Hills, white, red interior, 348 that big wraparound back window, and i think it had air and power windows. He sold it at his business auction for 2500

Hobby cars are not rated by "miles per gallon"    Its smiles per mile wink

If I remember this it was about 17-19 miles to a gallon. the car is about 4500lbs. the torque is nothing of a 283 2bbl;. It would lift the front end like you would not believe. And would rev faster than a 327. If you have never owned a W motor...you will never know what it's like.

I have tried the number probably 20+ times to no avail-who knows, the car may be gone already. The first and only time I spoke with him he said his parents wanted it out of their yard! Keep us updated if any info emerges.
