Do you know where I can find info to decode the VIN and cowl tag on this car after I see it? Thanks, Lee
Right here, we will do it for you.
. Verdero green, black vinyl bench, 307, 2 speed powerglide, rear defroster. This car is a Deluxe not a Custom. I don't see anything Fred listed to indicate it had a vinyl top from the factory or the D99 trim so it may have been added.
I guess I am a cruise night lawyer. It looks good in the pictures. It looks like it still has the original plastic inner fenders which is not too common. Check the frame at the rear and above the rearend at the kick ups. Inner rockers behind the front wheels especially the left side. Check the normal spots for rust and repairs to the floors, doors and fenders that have not been done properly. The rear quarters have already been replaced so check how they were done. There looks to be a cover over the top of the dash. Be prepared to spend about $1000 to fix the dash properly.

mine was good but in taking it off the frame i had to do a repair to the front windshield frame that was leaking on the floor causing the front pan under the driver to rust out.
also ive seen many that rust under the rear window as well, mine was just starting.
If this was an SD in the condition this appears to be in the photos you would pay easily twice the price being asked. It is a pretty rare and desireable car with the 4 speed as well. I personally like what has been done to the car is terms of appropriate modifications using Pontiac and Beaumont parts not found on a Custom originally. It is a unique car that is very cool, however if you buy it be prepared for those cruise night lawyers who will pick it apart and generally make you feel like $hit. It is a buyer's market so you can most likely negotiate down a bit. I recently got 15% off asking price at a new car dealer on a luxury car so I would think you should be able to get the same. It took me a month to buy the car though.
Oh ya, 68sd's last post shows the original build data on this car, it was green originally with a V8 and black bench seat interior. Some one has done a lot of work on this car and used the approipriate parts to do it.

You're a great negotiator--everytime I try to buy at 15% off the seller looks at me like I fell off a different planet ! --- anyway Ray is right-the market is extremely soft thats why stuff like this is priced attractively and why it often sits for sale--can't hurt to try-always depends if the seller wants to wait for the next offer or not
