'70 R/A III GTO Oshawa Production numbers

Ol' Newbie here..I trust I am in the right forum. I own an Oshawa-built 1970 Ram Air III GTO that sold new in Maine..

Two tone paint ( Baja Gold, Polar White top), Turbo 400, A M Radio, Console, Power Disc Brakes, Ram Air III, Safe-T-Track, Rally II wheels, Power Steering, Spg Shocks Ride/Handling

I am interested in determining production numbers for this car. I have read elsewhere that there were 413, 1970 non-Judge Ram Air III automatics built (hardtops and convertibles ). I believe I read somewhere on this site (of course I cannot find it now ) that there were 269 Oshawa-built 24237 GTOs built in 1970...Would this include Hardtops/convertibles/judges ???

The car hasn't been driven in twenty years, but is mostly original and complete...needs a total resto...much time and more money smile

Thank you very kindly for any and all replies.

Bill

Welcome Bill from PEI. Are you able to take pictures of your car ... we'd love to see it.

Thank you for the welcome.

Does anyone know if the "269" number includes production from plant(s) other than Oshawa?...and if that number includes hardtops, convertibles, and Judge cars ? Granted, it appears that this a pretty low production number already...thank you very kindly for you input.

Pictures are not available at this time...I need a new digital camera.

Get this...I asked the previous owner (since 1999) what was under the primered places on the body ... "I don't know, I haven't touched the car" was his reply. So, when I reached the owner previous to him (since 1991) and asked the same question, he tells me "I don't know, I drove the car from Pennsylvania home to Ohio and parked it". So the car hasn't been messed with for twenty years.

I am still trying to track some history on it. I have a copy of old title from Maryland, but have been unable to reach that previous owner. One of the PHS documents for this car was printed in the June, 2002 issue of High Performance Pontiac magazine (which I would love to have a couple more copies of) where Jim Mattison was being interviewed regarding avoiding auto fraud.

enough rambling...thanks again for your help

hardtops only built in Oshawa only ,the only plant here that produced them

i believe the ragtops came from the US plants for 1970

alot of the  1970 SS chevelles and GTOs were built here and exported to the upper east coastal US

Guessing since the Auto Pact came in it was easier to export as well as import .

IMG.jpgI also have a '70 Ram Air III built in Oshawa.  My GM documentation from George Zapora indicates that the number produced for sale in Canada model 24237 was 1,866 (269 with L/74 & M/40).  Ram air III V8 & 3-speed automatic (THM 400).  Hope this helps.  Good luck on the build.
