i have some pretty nasty frame rot behind my front wheels and it spans almost all the length of the door on the pass. side and about 7 inches on the driver side,i was browsing around the forum and noticed a member (jonathan i think) had the same issue on a 67 that he repaired,(great job BTW) so i know this is an option however i have a buddy that has a really nice 67 impala frame...i want to say it was from a convert. it has all the suspension on it still and i can more than likely convice him that i have a good use for it,he's saving it for a project that he and i know he'll never do...he's too caught up in pony cars to build real cars...LOL
anyway what i'm wondering is if the frame still has arms/rear end/and all that stuff can i drop my body on it sucessfully without alot of mods?
ALSO...a little off topic but i pulled the straps/lines to drop my gas tank and it won't budge at all.....am i missing something?every car i've pulled the tank on has only the straps holding it in....?
I'm not a authority on your '66 / '67 interchangeability, but I do know that if I was to exchange my '64 Parisienne with a '64 Impala frame, I would have to change out the front and rear Impala bumper brackets with my Parisienne ones.
Also, if your buddy's frame is a convertible frame, it is boxed for more rigidity. I don't know how that would effect the exchange (frame mounts?).
Hold tight, somebody else will give you a better answer.

About the fuel tank. It has a few strips of black double sided tape, this stops it rubbing metal on metal on boot floor. It should pull down with a bit of strength.(you guys might change fuel-gas,& boot-trunk)
66 Canadian Parisienne and Impala have the exact same frame .....although I don't know a lot about the convertable frames..they usually are just stronger..should work just fine
i just pulled on my tank and the straps broke lol =)
could you get me a picture of how bad the frame is the one on my car was broken in 3 places when i hocked it to the truck to pull it up the frame... it stretched out 8 inches that might not seem like alot but trust me pulling a frame back into shape..... by hand well your friend puts a couple taks on it is a big deal trust me but if it is just rusty it would be easy to fix.... all you need to do is weld in support bars just with a couple of taks all i did was seperate the factory welds at the front picture added below. then get i think 5 foot long 2" by 8" 1/4 thick steel tubing and cut it to fit. but i had access to a bandsaws aand other 2000$ tools but i liked the hacksaw better it gave a cleaner cut soo to do the repair i did on one rail it would cost 80 bucks it cost me 200 because i did alot of metal work i would say 60 % of my frame is new =)
If you have alot of energy and determination you can do it =) my repair took 200 hours easy lol

Is it hangin up at the filler neck?

I'll grab a few pictures of the rot tomorrow sometime,I got the gas tank off and I think you guys will get a kick out of what was making it stick...this car was sitting in california for quite sometime and appearently mud wasps found the top of the tank suitable to nest on...it had POUNDS of dried mud sealing it to the trunk pan...awesome right?..lol
Anyway gas tank is taken care of and I will post some pics later on tomorrow, thanks for all the help guys!
