Beaumont Newbie needs buying advice

I am a new member close to pulling the trigger on this 1968 Beaumont, 327 2 spd auto, with bench seats. Car was completely dismantled a few years ago. Body was sandblasted; repainted and reassembled using many new parts:

- New outer wheel house,

- New trunk pan,

- Rechromed or new front/rear bumpers,

- All new moldings and trims (wheels opening, windows, etc.),

- New seats covers, carpets, doors panels, headliner. Driver side of the bench is sagging a little,

- All new seals,

- Underbody oil treated with no rust whatsoever,

- New dual exhaust,

- Unscratched windows/windshield/backwindow,

- Body and Paint condition is 8.5 to 9 on a scale of 10 (magnet test every 2 inches show no bondo used),

- New Michelin tires and almost new Rally wheels,

- Interior is 8.5 to 9 on a scale of 10, uncracked dash,

- All doors, hood and trunk well aligned,

- Engine starts easily with no smoke or strange noise,

- Easy shifting transmission with no strange noise on hard acceleration/deceleration,

- Suspension is a tiddy bit on the soft side.

I was told that the engine is match number and original mileage is 56,000 miles. Engine bay is in show condition but engine needs some dressing and exterior refreshing.

Owner is asking 15,000$. Does this price make sense? Any pointers before I make my move?

Welcome!

sounds like you have done your home work

Make sure you see it on a lift

If you are ok at 15  offer them 10   then settle in between?

    Just buy it

I agree with Carl, Asking price for a first time for sale car is in the ball park for this model and 327. There is the yellow one in Ontario that was asking $13,000 and probably sold for less. I thought the yellow one had more desireable features but this one is very nice as well.

Asking $15k and will probably settle for less, my rule of thumb is 15% less would be an excellent deal.

Ray is correct   the 4 speed yellow car was a deal

I was going there today, but car was grabbed up...

My friend in N.B. has two guys looking for 68-69 A bodies

could have flipped the yellow car and made 10g

yup...on a lift, and check the inner wheel tub area where it meets the top of the trunk, and inner rockers at the bottom of the A piller. these are the first areas to go soft. A good indicator of the rest of the car.

good looking car, wrong trim rings on the rallies... those are 1/2 ton ones

There's lots of "goodies" out there in that price range. Shop carefully. A lot of stuff done to it for only 56,000 miles. Especially interior work?

looks really solid, sometimes we overlook solid solid cars to ones with the features. You will never go wrong with a really clean low mileage well done resto
