61 Pontiac Lifts the Wheels at the Dragstrip

Actually, I guess it only lifted one wheel but I was still happy to get a picture with air under the front tire.

We're hoping to have a stronger 409 in the car next year so I'm sure we'll get a lot more air under the tires then, but this will do for now.

Here's another picture from this past weekend.

 So far the quickest run has been 10.57 @ 126 mph and the 60' times are about 1.50

We're pretty happy with that because the engine was built for street use several years ago. It's stroked to 476 ci but it only has 9.42 to 1 compression. I think it makes about 550 hp.

That same engine used to be in this 62 Impala. It ran a best time of 12.41 @ 111 mph in that car.
