Setting all the negativity and ridicule aside it seems to me that the project inspiration was a good idea. There are plenty of mid sixties Batmobile replicas that are beloved and now the latest iteration is gaining popularity as well but there would seem to be none fron the 1958 era of the Comic book photo shown. We can all comment on execution but the concept is sound in my mind.

1958-batmobile.jpg

By the late 50s, the "bubble dome" Batmobile had been around for a while, and artists were starting to add their own unique take on the design. One good example is the above car, based on the 1957 Chrysler 300C. While the overall aesthetic remained - the bubble windshield, the battering ram, the central roof fin - the car featured headlights, fenders, bumpers, and other details straight from Detroit, to give the car a more up-to-date look. One other notable feature of this car is the roofline; while the general design of the Batmobile had gone towards a roofless look (with the bubble sitting on top of the main body), this car has a more integrated roof, more like Batmobiles of the early 1950s.

 I AGREE!

Also, you gotta admire this guys commitment to building the car of his dreams,as delusional as they may be.

It's not REALLY for sale when you look at the price.

He just wants to show it to the world.

I think this car & the Spiderman Chevelle would make a GREAT combination auction at the next Barnett-Jackson fantasyland show. (I can just see the babes draped all over them in Batman & Spiderman bikini's)

One of the best comic book Batmobiles i ever remember seeing was from one early 70's issue, a Two-Face story that looks like it used a 69 Camaro, major changes to the front end, dark blue paint and the hood painted black with slits sitting up just enough for headlights doubling as eyes in the cowl. If i find a pic i'll post it.
