im not close to painting yet but soon! ill be painting bit by bit! soooo whats the best colour... i would like black but it would look terrible! well not that bad but still not the best lol what colour hides learners body work?
I assume you are using a long board to sand the 1/4's? Dont sand with your hands or it will look like hell. When I use a long board I alternate my pattern- almost like an X.
Would not recomend any metallics for your first paintjob
If you want black, you can use FLAT black (only FLAT! black) and it will hide alot of bad work too. But do not use gloss black or it will show everything.
For you i would suggest flat black, unless you really have your heart set on glossy shine. They go with white.

Jonathan, if you long board it I am going to suggest Emerald Turquoise. The turquoise metallic is not as hard to spray and settle out as silver or gold, plus the light aspect and the original colour aspect will look good no matter what is hiding below. I am not suggesting this to hide flaws so you can peddle it, I am just going by observation and what impresses me (original era colours).

Do a light solid color. You have enough to worry about without trying to lay down the metallics properly. Flat black also looks horrible if not done very well but still looks better then a bad metallic job.
alright ill go el cheapo flat black =) but yellow is a nice colour!
Yellow with a green engine and rims just wouldn't look right.

Jonathon, I'd go with a "Satin black" such as what was used on the "road Runner" hoods, I wouldn't use just "flat black" primer, as the moisture will go right through it & into your body work. Even a "chassis" black will work [ John Deere, Allis Chalmers ] implement paint is "close" easy to mix & shoot outside!!! My 2 cents worth, hate to see you loose all the work by not putting a protective paint on there

i would do what pete says, the flat black does scratch easy and is not the best for protection. I think ive seen the single stage satin black at canadian tire.
Only last thought is stay away from metallics, I saw a late model somthingorother with swoopy sort of styling, silver color, and it had been dented and pushed in a little, and the flaws showed off really bad.
Of course satin black is my favorite
