Hey guys, if I switch to HEI in the 68 GP, What wire do I hook up and where. Is there any difference in the years of HEI I would need? Its the original 327, 4bbl.
Thanks, Ken

The power wire on the distributor (I think it says 12 volts or something like that) needs to be a fused 12 volt wire, preferably from the fusebox, not the 9 volt wire that feeds the current ignition coil.

Yes, "ign fused" from the fuse block.. I believe in '83-'84 they went to ESC (electronic spark control), so stay away from them... One wire to the "B+-Batt" terminal and you will be ready to go!
Bonus if you have a tach as the "TACH" terminal is along side for that as well!!!!
Perfect! I knew there wasn't much to it.... Thanks!!!

Just make sure that the "new" 12volt source is "powered' by the ign. switch & not "direct" from fuse block or the HEI will not shut the engine off by the key!!!!!!!! I did run my Catalina with " Crane" electronic conversion off the old source [9V] for awhile but changed over to 12V source. 52 Torpedo Back has HEI, works well!!!!
