Is this coupe a '41?

Went out to the farm for Thanksgiving and there is an old Pontiac coupe in the back 40. Just the body no frame. Think it is a '41. Took a picture of the tag.

1941 Pontiac Fleetleader Special Series 2000 2-door Sedan Coupe model 2027. However note that it's a Regina, Saskatchwan-assembled car so ultra-rare. Pity it's not complete as it should be in a museum... 1941 assembly ended by end June 1941 as the plant closed and became a munitions plant.

I am always after plate details on Regina cars...having written the plant history.

As an aside a guy in the UK bought a '38 McLaughlin-Buick that someone had imported in modern times from Canada..it turned out to be a Regina car. I suggested that after restoration he should send it back home, to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. They have a few Regina cars and trucks there. That '41 could perhaps be a good donor of parts..I assume that the climate is pretty dry on the plains?

One thing I have noticed is that the Regina tags seem to have a dash between the first and second digits... I seem to recall that the Oshawa ones don't but I will check!

 Seems to be true!!

So, anyone know how many cars came out of the Regina plant in '41 before they shut it down? I never knew there even was a plant in Regina. I learned something new today. Cool history.

The Regina Plant story is one that will be familiar to many people...small city encourages Big Business....only to see it close down...then re-open...then close-down...then re-open...then after a few yeara re-open for a few years only to be dedicated for the war effort and then never re-opened. You can imagine how many people were taken-on, then laid-off, each time. Very sad.

I agree about the plates...the stamper must have decided to add their own personal touch and it does seem that there is indeed an extra '-' on Regina plates.

As to numbers: we don't yet know how many were built there in 1941 but we do know that Chevrolet car serials ran to # 5150. On top of that were:

GMC chassis cab with Box

MODEL 9573
SERIAL 1-957380119
ENGINE G17908
BODY SERIAL 2
PAINT 142

which had the 224 Pontiac engine

I think it's a 2 1/2 tonner..73 is a chassis-cab but the mystery is that the Parts List does not show a 9573, just a 9673.

Three Chevy commercials:

gm parts book (212-51 edition) lists 95 series as 2 ton for 1940 but not with 71 body code. 95 came with 31-32-33-35 on a 133" wheel base and 41-42-43 on a 158 1/2" wheel base. engine listed as 224

My 38 chevy 2dr coach's plate had the Regina on it, but have no idea if it was built there or in Osh. Cars long gone now.

The Regina and Walkerville names appeared on plates from 1929 to 1942ish. Regina was by then the Western Zone distribution depot, before in became an assembly plant in December 1937. Cars and possibly trucks sent out from Regina in 1935 had a 'W' suffix as a consequence. The only way to tell a 1938-41 Regina vehicle was the '8' instead of a '0' after the Model Number. Walkerville was an assembly plant, last being used for trucks in 1932 but they did not seem to have used a plant code: just different sequences for Oshawa, Regina and Walkerville, 1929 to 1932.

Wasn't planning on it. I would like to rod it someday being there is no chassis under it. It might be rare but not museum worthy. So not in my interest to restore to original. Much nicer like the photo Crazy J posted. If I change my mind I promise to post it here first.
