Folks, I am restoring my 1970 Red '70 convertible......and one part I'm having trouble sourcing is a match for the Engine and Lighting harness. I've called a few US parts replicators and they have little info on like one like harnesses for Canadian made Pontiacs
Mine is a 1970 Parisienne, with a 350 Chevy V8 (no HEI).....any guidance on possible sources.
I've inquired about an Impala harness, but the tech departments can't confirm if they will work
do you have the original? i'm doing a 1970 Red '70 convertible too. i have all the harnesses in a pile but the car was disassembled when purchased. i had acquired a 69 caprice for parts and most of the under hood wiring looked the same. probably not much help.
I've seen various engine harnesses used on 1970 Parisiennes, mainly revolving around the temperature sending units and the kick-down switches for a turbo 400 transmission. Typically the engine harness has the wiring for the 2 prong sending unit on the passenger cylinder head for the TCS, and the lighting harness has the wiring for a single prong sending unit on the drivers cylinder head for the TEMP light.
If you have a turbo 400, early models had the kickdown switch mounted on the carburator, and a mid-year change moved it to inside above the gas pedal. Either way it's still part of the engine harness.
Re the engine harness, I think it's safe to assume an Impala harness would work. Not sure about the lighting harness.
When I did the 454 transplant in the 2+2, I made my own engine harness.
thanks, i am prepared to make some minor modifications to either harness if necessary.......the one i have is salvageable.....but if i can get new after market, i would go that route
i have the original......probably salvageable....but i'd take new aftermarket if i could get it. next stage for me is some quarter panel work......have one rear fender needs a ton of TLC.......if any good advice on source for quarter panels, let me know......
