68 vs 69 Beaumont dog dish caps

Was sorting some dog dish caps . I have some Beaumont ones which have the light argent painted background (68's?) and some with the darker argent backgrounds(69's?). Anybody know for sure?

i have found the same thing too.

You are the first person to mention this little known fact.

I think 68 is light,  69 is dark,  but lets see what others say.

66 and 67 black. 68 and 68 grey.
Are you indicating that there are two different shades of grey? I didn't know that.  One thing I have noticed is that there seem to be a lot fewer of the black (66-67) out there than the argent ones...

Another possible consideration is after 40 years we may be seeing more of these that have been repainted?...

i think i have 2 of the differeent shades,  i will have to look.  The darker grey is really rare to find.  i think i have one only, but i have seen others,   they are for sure original,  without a doubt.

Will try to get photos.

No,  it is for sure original

Here is the darker one,  it is without question, original paint using a masking template just like original,  for sure original paint.  very dark grey metallic,  i have seen others like it too,  but very very rarely.

I have it next to the usual silver paint(this one is an Acadian, as i did not have the beaumont one to compare) but same silver paint regardless

The flash makes it look brighter,  it is really a much darker grey

I think this might explain the different part numbers(68#3406773) and (69#731488) as per the Nov. 1968 Acadian-Beaumont parts catalogue.
