I have troubles with my 57 speedos ( I have three and all the same illness). The axis is naturally used, so the magnet attracts the cylinder and scrub it when rolling and the roller is not free enough. I tried to insert some ring but even like that, the spring seems to be too weak to retain the roller when running and to force it at the start position when stopping. Spring seems OK and I'm afraid to break it if I increase the stress on it.
I think I'm too stupid so I'm looking for a specialist. I 'll send it from Belgium, so I need "the" specialist...
Can anyone help a stupid belgian to know his speed?
Many rodders aren't bothering with a spedometer - other than to fill the hole in the dash. They use their GPS unit which gives speed. Do you have GPSs in Belgium?
wONDER HOW THAT WOULD WORK ON GETTING A SAFTEY cERT DONE!!!! States you must have 'working" speedo, would GPS qualify?????
Have you ever seen a shop take a car out and check the spedometer while doing a safety check? I haven't.
YEP!!! When I had my 51 Merc. P/UP the mechanic drove it down the street after doing check & came back & said the speedo didn't work & wouldn't pass it, forgot the speedo cable was missing & had to go find one!!!!
