Sooooooo its been a few months, just wanted to post an update as to where im at with the car.

 

Spent most of the summer sanding it down to bare metal, ridding it of rust, replacing rotted metal, and doing some preliminary body work:

Then 2 coats of Eastwood Epoxy:

 

 

 

Just got my new Rims/Tires:

 

And here's how she sits right now:

 

All in all im pretty happy with my progress so far.  Still a ton of bodywork to do but that will have to wait for next year.

Right now im putting together parts for my 4 wheel disc conversion, and this is what I picked up to keep me busy over winter:

All aluminum L33 (5.3) and 4L60E

Great engine choice. I'm a little partial to LS engines. They can make amazing torque from 3500rpm and up with the right cam. I have a stock LS1 (346 ci) bottom end with AFR heads and a cam that makes over 400hp (385 rwhp). The LS1 engine car is much faster than my 67 Beaumont when it had a 427.

Very nice looking car - I always liked the appearance of the 64-65 Chevelle and Beaumont 4 door sedan. Very well proportioned.

WOW thats coming nicely, great job!!!! See you are out west so I guess emmissions are not a problem?? out there, here in Ont. you would have to put all the emm. stuff for yr. of engine on it!!!!!! or are you going to do that anyway for computor to work right.

Thanks everyone, ive been busy.  Its amazing how much time and money you can throw at a car..... and still not even be close :)

Im very excited about the powertrain though. The L33 was a nice find.  As far as emissions go, by the time im finished with the powertrain, it will be legal everywhere.  My main goal however, is just to get it to run by next year.

  The LS platform is absolutely amazing, so much power vs engine size.  Plus the mileage and reliability cant be beat.  I love driving my truck, with the stock 5.3, its good on gas and goes like hell.

Doing the powertrain swap is going to be a long journey, but worth it in the end.

A little bit more progress.  Finally got the front suspension back together:

- Jeep Grand Cherokee Steering Box

- Energy Upper/Lower Control Arm Bushings and Stabilizer Bushings

- Upper Lower Ball Joints/Stabilizer Links

- Eibach Springs/KYB Shocks

- P-S-T Tie Rod ends, Center Link, Pitman Arm, Idler Arm

- 70 Chevelle Disc Brake Spindles/Discs/Calipers

Engine fits great, with the front fenders, rad support, and hood back on, the engine clears the hood by about 2".

However i'm still concerned by the oil pan, it hangs low...

Next will be exhaust manifolds and accessories, then I can move on to the back of the car :)

It sits about an inch and a half to two inches below the crossmember. It's a concern for me, but it's hard to find a pan for this swap that has enough capacity, fits properly, and doesn't cost a million dollars. I'm thinking maybe a skid plate?

         That pan does not sit any lower, than my buddies deepened pan on    

         his Chevy II   His has been on since the late 80's   

         All the late pickups, have a aluminum skid plate,

        that you could cut down, and make a nice deflector

He he I just noticed the trouble light in the pic (Im a little slow). 
Im hoping to have it running by spring (If I don't run out of money first :) )

 Thats exactly what I was thinking.  It just offers a little peace of mind. Nothing can ruin a nice Sunday drive quicker, than a hole in the oil pan :)
