1968 Beaumont SD adveritising

I borrowed these pictures from another post by 68sd that was in the full size forum to add in the Beaumont section.
First I want to thank Fred for finding this advertising material and then sending me the ebay link.

The last picture is an advertising plate that I bought quite a few years ago which would have been used for making the paper in which the ad was placed. ( I have put this on the site before) The text is reversed so it will be difficult to read on the forum but I can tell you that the ad copy that Fred found is the same text. The background image on the plate is the same as the picture just the car is at a different angle.

How cool was this CP does it again! And a big thanks to Fred (68sd)

Now just to find the paper the ad was printed in. At least now I have a date.

Thanks again Fred. I am glad the ebay listing had a buy it now.

That looks like the same background. I wonder if they took several pictures and chose one or if they used the different pictures for different adveritising?

Neat stuff for sure.......Well to a Beaumont guy anyways

This stuff is awesome. What I find interesting is that the backdrop to the photo of the 1968 car is clearly a Confederation pavilion of some sort which places the photo in front of an iconic 1967 Canadian setting.

The country was so full of promise back then, I remember celebrating Centennial all year as kid.

I would say that is the same picture as the plate I have but not the complete thing. The plate is a reverse of how it would be printed.
Do you know what newspaper that article is from? It is an interesting article about the Canadian cars.

I would say the Acadian photo is the same one as they used in the paper. Cool to find original photos that were used for advertising.

That iconic background - is it Expo 67 or some other pavilion somewhere else (Ontario, likely).

I was really really young at the time, but I can remember the Expo 67 train coming to Halifax.  The jingle that they played over and over again is still burned into my memory.

Cool stuff Brad ... I like these kind of items. Items that show a history! That's a great collectible.

I was 7 years old at the time of Expo. I lived in Montreal and my Aunt baby-sat me and had a seasons pass. Guess where every sunny Summer's day was spent? I had every square inch of my Expo passport book stamped ... wish I still had it! I loved the Biosphere (US pavillion) with the Apollo Module, and the Gyrotron (a LaRonde ride). Expo '67 rocked!

"Acadian and Beaumont sold exclusively in Canada by Pontiac-Buick dealers"

I saw the reference to the dealers, no mention of the marque being pontiac... pretty clear, as they refer to it as "General Motors of Canada, 1968 Beaumont"

Could have just as easily been called a 'Buick Beaumont'.
