A FRIEND HAD A 1970 300 DELUXE. NOT SURE IF THEY WERE AVALIBLE AFTER 1970 OR IF THEY WERE CANADIAN ONLY. HARD TO SAY FROM THAT PICTURE, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME EMBLEM THAT WAS ON HIS '70.
That car brings back memories of a 71 Chevelle a friend had in high school. Actually it was his parents second car and we were able to take it camping. 6 banger too. This one was green on green.
The 300 Deluxe was a Canada-only series for 1970; for 1971 it was a later-introduction trim option available for the base Chevelle series - RPO Z35. It carried over to 1972. 441 cars came with it for 1972 (2 & 4-doors).
That car looks very similar to the only other 1971 300 Deluxe I have seen to date, right down to the colours. The one I saw years ago also had mags out back, plus a V8 that screamed through a pair of Supertraps out back. It looked and sounded like it might have been one of those night time racers if you know what I mean.
Call me a purist but I would feel guilty for altering a rare example of a Chevelle with the chincy interior (in great shape). I could however see that car cloned not into an SS, but a Heavy Chevy.

Thanks for that info, I thought it must be a rare one. As a bystander I would like to see it kept as an original car given that it is so scarce. However as always it will be up to the next owner to decide whether he wants to clone it or not. After all, they will be spending the money for it.
At least we were able to see it in its original form thanks to kijiji.
