Hey guys, when I bought my 66 it never came with a console and now that I need one I have a simple question: what were the originals made from, plastic or metal? Alot of the new repro ones I've seen online are made of plastic and a expensive! If the old ones are metal, I'd rather wait and search til I find one, instead of spending alot on a plastic repro that can break easily!!
Thanks
A combination of both plastic and metal I believe. Console door: metal. Console body: plastic.

Auto! I was under the impression the console clock clover was metal too!! Oh well! I guess I might as well by a repro then if the only difference is age, besides the originals are tough to find!

You are correct, the whole upper "deck" is metal.

That shifter is for a powerglide. You will need to buy adapter kit for a TH350 or TH400. Odds of you finding an original BB shifter is slim to none so I would persue this set up.
