1973 Lemans Sport Coupe

OK after several unsuccessful tries I think I have got it...

Here she is my new to me 1973 Lemans.

I plan on putting on some new rubber and rims, removing/repairing the non functional shaker hood fixing the tear in the driver seat, trim around the windows and driving her a lot.

There is no rust, no bodywork, no scratches or dents. She starts at the turn of a key, no problem everytime. I think she looks pretty good for her age. I plan on driving her a lot next summer.

I can't get over what great shape she is in. The green is starting to grow on me too!

She has a 350ci motor that sounds really nice and AM radio so I can listen to "Talk 640 AM" biggrin what more do I need!

I know A body cars are a love em or hate em bunch, but I think she looks great and she sure is rare.

I will be garaging her today for the winter but look forward to our next date.

Hard to put her away!1973 Lemans 003.jpg1973 Lemans 015.jpg1973 Lemans 017.jpg1973 Lemans 033.jpg1973 Lemans 034.jpg1973 Lemans 037.jpg1973 Lemans 038.jpg1973 Lemans 040.jpg1973 Lemans 045.jpg1973 Lemans 046.jpg

Visiting hrs. on my two, are "anytime I'm in the shop" You "GOTTA" dump those wheels, car will look much better with Mags or Rally's but don't go with anything more that 15" or it will RUIN the "LOOK" IMO Pete

I had a new Chevrolet powered 1973 "Sport Coupe"  Orange with white interior, new in 1973    factory duals.....

I changed the Q-jet to a Holley carb  I cut fuel line with hacksaw and shoved on a rubber hose...hmm  Wife was driving home and flames were noticed coming up the windshielddisbelief    Fire dept poured 45,000 gallons of water on it....  car was towed to Pontiac dealer   They changed all the "melted" parts

and I picked up a few days later and I stopped at Chevrolet dealer (that day) and traded for a 74 Nova SS   paid 820.00 plus tax difference  73 had 10,523 miles on it....

It had rally wheels with Michelins for winter and slotted mags and Cragar style   I was always in the tire business   so I changed wheels very very often

Pete beat me to it, I saw the AIR  and I want it, just in case.

Your car is actually a Colonade Hardtop D37 model not a Sport Coupe which is an F37. Your VIN has that detail as does the body tag. I noticed the D37 in the VIN on another post you made.

A Colonade Hardtop what the heck is that? That sounds like an Old mans car!

Geez,73SC!!!

Well it is a sporty Colonade Hardtop if I ever saw one!wink

I was on another site where they made mention of a "Colonade Hardtop" model...said it was rare and if you had one to contact them. I will have to find it again.

I'm gonna learn lots on here.biggrin

Look's like a great find, welcome to the Pontiac A-Body family. I think there are a couple of us on the site. You don't see to many " big window" bench seat car's.

Yep, the green monster is cool. With new wheels it will look just right! Big Ray (73SC) can fill you in on rim choices.

The Colonade hardtop was the standard model in 1973-75 and is not rare at all. It was a new roof designed that was necessry due to changing rollover regulations.

The Sport Coupe has a louvered rear quarter window and was revoluntionary in design.  That is what my car is.

Many customers didn't really like the louvers and part way through 1973 production Pontiac offered the Sport Coupe with the Colonade hardtop or the louvers. These big window Colonade Sports Coupes are what are rare beacuse it was a part year run and then offered in 1974 with the louvers and formal opera roof lines. 1975 -77 the Sport Coupe was available with louvers and also a formal opera type roof line.

Sport Coupes, F37 differ from the base model, D37 in level of trim amd equipment offered most noteably bucket seats were standard in the Sport Coupe or at customers option a divided front seat with pull down armrest. Your car is not a Sport Coupe Colonade. It is nonetheless a cool car.

In 1973 GTO was optional on either D37 or F37, most GTO's are F37 cars however.

My dad's 77 LeMans Sport Coupe had louvered rear windows. That was the worst back seat to sit in. I was car sick in minutes! Still, it looked cool from the outside!
