Nice, these don't seem to bring any money even though low production!!! Carl,we both know somebody that has one [or did have one] in the collection!!! For some reason these just didn't catch on to the collector car guys????

I know someone who loves these, He 's on here so he might spy it. The problem with these from value is the drivetrain. We were talking about the SS, 442 amd GN from this era. They are all superstars compared to this. It got a regular Parisienne LG4 305 at about 150 HP and no special running gear at all. Pontiac made enough to satisfy NASCAR Rules. Rumour is that rear glass length was cut short so a spare tire could go in trunk. Trunk is useless too because letter box trunk lid won't let much in and even if you got it in you couldn't find it after it was inside. These things sat on dealer lots forever back in 1986. Richard Petty won his last race in a Grand Prix but not one of these.
You would have figured that Pontiac would have put something under the hood that was different and better perfoming. Production of the last Pontiac V8, the 301 ended in 1981 so no W37 301 or Turbo 301 was around. Most likely it was corporate politics at play again keeping the L69 out of the engine bay.
I've read three theories on this. One being the rivalry between Chevy and Pontiac. Chevy wanted to have the upper hand. The second theory has to do with CAFE ratings. One division with a higher HP "gas guzzling" G body was enough. The third is there wasn't enough supply as the high HP 305 was already being used in the Monte SS and F-bodies. I'd be apt to go with CAFE ratings or supply issues.
The car is far from underpowered, it's likely better than a 283 in a big Pontiac, it's just not a performance engine. A run or the mill 283 is roughly 136 Net HP and this is about 150 or 155 Net HP. I think $17,000 is way too much for this $5,000 car.

IF the car is in the same condition, its got to be worth 10g
