Well folks, I've got my '57 on the road and looking forward to the summer of 2012. I am tryuing to keep the car original so I have had the generator rebuilt. When I went to re-connect the battery, there was a terrific cloud of smoke from the wires going from the battery to the regulator and generator. I'm thinking the wiring was pretty brittile and the system shorted out.
It's not surprising since the car is 55 years old and it spent all of it's life baking in the prairie heat in Medicine Hat, Alberta. I've already had to replace many brittle parts!
What's the easiest / best way to solve this challenge? Are there wiring harness kits out there?
