If you are at a "judged show" I presume the judges look for this type of stuff? 

At a show or cruise night  it would be a waste?

That mirrror is for 1964-66 Chevrolet products and is highly sought after hence the bidding reflected the rarity and desireability of the item. Remote mirrors did not gain mainstream status until the 70's and even then were most often optional.
