I was on another forum a couple a days ago saw saw a couple pictures of a gold Cheetah and wondered it is is real. Is this a known Cheetah car? There was no info on the car, just the pictures that were taken at a show.

I have the 65 SD Cheetah version of that one but you would have to pull it from my cold dead hands and this one is a 67. It seems to surface now and again in posts. If you want to drop some serious money let me know and I will talk to him. He knows what he has. I really don't know if he would ever part with it but I can always ask. I don't ask because I like seeing it local and driving around. Paul.

Is it documented? I would assume that adds value to it.

Heres a real cool add I came across a while back , It really shows what a dealer performance upgrades included , it would be cool to see one like this from Conroy. I wonder if Mander and Conroy were rivals and how neat it would be to hear the old stories!!

Hmm, good question! Intially I was thinking of the 67, but let's do both of them. I know they've both been discussed before on here. It seems to me the 67 has just GM Vintage documents showing Conroy, or......?

Let's say both of them for anyone who hasn't been on here that long.

There's a gold one like this in Ontario but I believe its a clone- other than being sold by conroy I guess you would need bill of sale or invoice showing conroy add ons with the vin on it also as documentation

Without some documentation it would be pretty hard to claim anything... especially in a year when no one else recalls a cheetah being built or on the street (65). There were alot of nice optioned cars sold out of conroy, obviously not all were cheetahs! So far no one has shown a documented (as Ken describes) cheetah that i've seen... the vintage photo of the SK car is the best i've seen on this site so far...

Ron may have some documentation of some sort, maybe even sworn affidavits (which the guy in SK should do while people are alive and remember!)... and i don't blame him for not sharing these documents online...

ak

p.s. 'Louds' former white 67SD convertible was sold at conroy... maybe it's a cheetah?

Aw c'mon Chad, you can pretend it is!!! Be hard to prove it's not if you put on some mirrors and badges!

There is a guy in Vancouver that remembered a 65 cheetah but it was white and a L-79. He's a friend of the cheetah crowd on this site. I always get mixed up with the two fellows names that have Cheetahs on this site. The gold one has always been a Cheetah from day one and is no different than the green one. Basically a bunch of guys claiming it was. As for mine I guess I went back in time, travelled to Nova Scotia, planted the talbot mirrors on my 65, let it sit for sale for three years, and then travelled back to Nova Scotia and bought it. No one will know my secret plan. Come on it's a Conroy sold 4 spd vinyl top car with 1965 AC cobra talbot mirrors and the fender emblem was drilled, measured, and matched a original Cheetah badge. It's as valid as the rest. Hard to believe but it's true. I wish I had a bill from Conroy but my time machine doesn't go back that far. The only reason most don't believe any of these cars are real is that they are impossible to document. I just got lucky that mine had a original fender drilled for a Cheetah emblem, a original 1965 talbot mirror still on it, and Gm docs to prove how it was sold at Conroy. When is the last time you saw a 65 SD 4spd vinyl top Conroy car. I would say never at this point. I did finally talk to the guy with the gold clone 67 Cheetah on the east coast and he seems like a nice guy.

Hey, good point. Did they ever do Cheetahs on non-Beaumonts?

Please forgive my statements

I love these cheetah cars I really do even the mistery of 29 converted and when and why

But honestly I could never understand the value/hype of cars with dealer installed options-back in 96 I located for a friend a paperwork LS6 chevelle the owner had a 69 Yenko he wanted more $ for never could fiqure it out factory assembled low production performance yes but go to your local GM dealer and have them install some aftermarket performance stuff that you could have done yourself and its worth huge $ ????

One bonus is Yenko documented their cars... they have a mystique and legend built around them that adds value. I agree Ken, if it wasn't optioned that way, then it's a "day two" car no matter who built it. But famous builders like Yenko, Baldwin carry a hefty price. Will a cheetah carry a similar price? Not likely, but knows what the premium will be until one changes hands... Some of the baldwin cars, etc were done long after they were sold off the lot as well...

Chad, your car would be a one of one conroy car as well i'm sure... not too many '736' SD convertibles around!!

I wish i had time machine, last thing I'd do is buy cars though! Every now and again I spill some booze on my hot tub controls, and it has never sent me back to the 80's! Darn Hot Tub Time Machine, that movie was misleading....

I guess I mean it will be the last one I sell. The Cold dead hands thing was a little over the top.
