RE: March 2012 Feature Car

...lovely example - and love the visor. They were so cool. I remember growing up in Newmarket ON being driven by my best friend's dad (who was the town's Postmaster then) in his 4 dr. '57 Chevy w/a six and 3-on-the-tree (not as nice as the Poncho..). You're right - those cars had a distinctive sound and rhythm that I can still remember...!

Once again i would like to sincerely thank everyone here at C.P. for all the kind words. It is always very much appreciated folks. It is nice to know that my fellow old car brother hood likes the work and the car. Thank you. Cheers. George.

Beauty! Lovely colors, excellent all around.

Interesting rear bumper ends, not like other 57's:

Dave these bumper end caps on this 57 is what they should look like on a Canadian 57 Pontiac. My caps were repaired before i bought the car. They will be replaced when i find a solid pair to rechrome. Dave your American 57 Pontiacs had bumper end caps that had holes in the centres for the exhaust outlets. Our Canadian Pontiacs never had these exhaust outlet end caps. Thank you for the kind words. Cheers. George.

Ah, I wondered if there was some story behind that, hope you find some good ones, too bad US Pontiacs won't work for you (same problem with lots of unique trim items for Canadian Pontiacs, unfortunately).

Great job. Beautiful car. Love the colour.
What's on the dash just in front of the right side of the sterring wheel? I see the compass to the right but, I don't know what the other thing is.

The gizmo is a TRAFFIC LIGHT VIEWER. This device is an original Guide by GM accessory that was placed on the dash so you could see the traffic lights reflected into it. This item was required on cars that had exterior sunvisor and is silly on cars that do not have a exterior sunvisor, that is unless you live in the U.S.A. in some cities the traffic lights are in the middle of the intercection and hard to see. In that case you could use this device with out having a exterior sunvisor. I always thought they were nifty and always have had them on my my exterior sun visor equiped cars now and in the past. Thank you for the kind words on my 57 Pontiac. Cheers. George.
