66 front door vent glass removal question

Has anyone pulled the front door vent glass from a 65-66 full size GM car? It would be the same on Pontiac, Chev, Olds, Buick or Cadillac. I suspect I would have to pull the entire vent frame and channel from the door, then remove the glass from there. I don't have tinted vent glass yet but I'm just working ahead in my planning for when I get to that point.

This would apply to B bodies only because the Acadians and Beaumonts don't have the same style vent glass assembly.

Yes , If I remember rightly you have to remove the whole  vent frame and channel from the door, then remove the glass. The procedure is in the fisher body manual...

If you don't have a Fisher body manual, I do for 65, I can scan and e-mail you the pages if need be.

I am pretty sure I have 66 but if not, have 65 or 67.

I visited a guy today and pulled the tinted vent glasses out of a 67 Olds full size. Piece of cake! Basically remove the 4 gearbox bolts, remove it, lower adjuster nut, upper adjuster nut and I think 2 other bolts. Then with just the right amount of lifting and twisting it comes out 1-2-3.

On a side note this guy I visited has to be one of the nicest people I ever met. I'm not just saying that because he gave me a great deal. This guy appears genuinely happy, content, excited to be alive. We discussed it and he explained to me it's because he lives a very simple life, no mortgage, no debt. He doesn't drive new cars, his house and yard likely draw ridicule from those with fancy homes and manicured yards, but he has found the secret to being content. He has learned to live on an income of dealing in scrap and firewood pretty much, and I would guess him to be early/mid 40's. He's out in the bush, no neighbours, I think he said about 80 acres of land and a number of junk cars to keep him company!!!

He sounds like my kind of guy. That's the lifestyle we're hoping to live in the next couple of years.

I will admit to being a tiny bit surprised when we pulled up. I am used to car guys having junk every where. However, from the outside, the house does not look well maintained. When we went to the door and I had a quick glance in when he came to the door, he keeps it very neat. Tons of collectible stuff, memorabilia type stuff EVERYWHERE but nicely done. I'm sorry if I can't quit ranting but I just love it that here is a guy who by all appearances (to most people) has absolutely nothing, leaves his yard disorganized and cluttered, lives in a run down looking house, and yet he seems to have found the real key to happiness. I just can't get over it!

I got nothin but old junk and I love it (Course I had to sort of rent myself out for about 35 years first to get the money to get all this old stuff .) This guys sounds like he's found a way to avoid that.  Good for him!
