1970 Canadian L78 Nova..

Not mine, but a good member from another web site. I thought this rare Canadian Documented Nova should not be missed from my CP Family, really a sweet Nova biggrin

FOR SALE: Rare 1970 Cranberry Red L78 Nova..sold new at Dick Irwin Chevrolet, Vancouver, BC. Rubber floor mat/bench seat car. M-20 4spd, 12 bolt 3.55 posi, am radio, b/s moldings and brite window trim. Steel wheels with dog dish caps. Plain jane muscle! Born with engine and rear..tranny is not original, but is a correct 1970 Nova M-20. Highly documented car: POP, bill of sale, build sheet, pre-delivery form and multiple copies of GM of Canada paperwork. Older restoration that still looks great. I have an extensive photo library of the restoration, pictures of the original owner, magazine features and more. Just took it out of storage to install the new correct 731 seat covers and have it completely detailed. Red, bench seat, rubber mat, BB, 4 speed...hard combo to beat!

Additional info, photos and copies of docs available...please contact me for details at 518-821-6406 or tom@wilmasboy.com
Asking $69,900..thanks, wilma.

Dan

This was a car that was for sale in Burlington about 3 years ago. That's my Biscayne in the background in the garage. ( I was there to pick it up)

I was just going through my e-mails from Marc, the car went to Philadelphia to another SYC member, so I imagine Tom knows all about it.wink

Tom Williams is a straight shooter that know his L-78 novas. He's the kind of guy to help out a total stranger. And lend his knowlegde of these rare cars. He has a website that shows all his L-78 novas, I will find it and post a link when I get home tonight, unless someone here knows where to find it, and post it. postsedan will know where to find it. Would be nice to see this former canadian car come back across the border. Hopfully somebody steps up to the plate on this rare car.

Oh, there are lots with that kind of money. I have a customer with a Viper, V10 Ram, Long Horn Ram ($80k) plus many other cars and he just ordered a Yellowjacket SRT Challenger..

Dan, good to see you get Wilma aboard on the north side of the border.

Good luck Tom with the sale of your nova. Sure would love to see this car in person, here's hoping somebody in Alberta steps up to the plate. How bout it Mike???biggrin A pair of these tire shreaders so close together, that would be the making of a matching pair of stupidity tickets from the local law enforcement.wink

Cool stuff! Who was the original owner of the red car? Just wondering if the name rings a bell.  I don't remember seeing that car around North Vancouver.

My automatic W31 came from Dick Irwins

Hey Tom,
I've noticed you've advertised a few things.... new project in the works ??

Wish I had the funds... probably not far off what it will cost to do my L78 anyway.... just not all at once.
Gary

Welcome Tom!

Fake68, I've been biting my tongue, not commenting on knowing of another Canadian number matching L78 awaiting restoration....

Don't forget, I know where that car is and if it sits too long I may go remove it and drive it the way it's meant to be driven!!!!!

Guy across the road from me has a 70 L78 matching numbers car Canadian docs that needs full resto. Shadow grey with black buckets, floor shift but auto. Same colour combo as my Acadian but the auto thing kills it for me.

We have two 1970 TH400 L78 Novas in our stable...I understand many folks prefer the 4 speeds...but, if you've never driven the TH400 version, you are missing something big. The transmissions are HD, hi-shift point units with 6 lug convertors and special internals...you literally can't break them.

The 1968 L78 Nova was the first GM vehicle to have the TH400 mated to a solid lifter motor...the 50 Gibb COPO Novas were a terror with that setup. The combo is very reliable since all you have to do is leave it in "D"..the tranny does all the work for you. The trans. will up-shift at approximately 6200 rpms and in some models as high as 6800 rpms on its own...

You rarely see a warranty motor in an automatic L78 car...since there is no manual shifting, over revs and missed shifts are eliminated.

Here are some photos of our TH400 L78's...the black one is setup with lots of Day 2 goodies and we run it at the drags at least once a year. The gold car is a former street racer from north Philly that is a survivor vehicle...ps...the gold car is for sale wink
