New to this site! I have a 62 rag top convertible- I've had it since 81and it has been in my family since new if you can believe it!!! I have finally decided to haul it out and do something with it. Not in the greatest of shape, but the old girl still runs, has all the trims glass- fenders definitely need work. Even the convert top, which was new in 1986 is intact. I will try to get pictures of her up soon. Looking forward to sharing any advice on where to start.
Only 1250 Acadian convertibles were built in 1962 and very few are still around.
The '62 had ACADIAN spelled out in individual letters between the grill and the filler panel. A car with all the letters intact is the exception. As with most Acadian trim, they're not reproduced.
Welcome Gary.I also have a 62 Acadian Beaumont Deluxe (rare). They were only built in the last half of 1962.Deluxe that is.No idea how many were produced. My car was featured in the Chevelle Beaumont Elcamino mag in BC.50 years aniversary.
i hate these kind of posts...............we all wish to see this one , the guy just vanished , and does not realise at what point there are real acadian enthusiasts here .........

There was a guy (kid) on here a couple years ago that found and bought a rare Beaumont in a garage (I forget the exact details), and went on and on about it in a thread. When pressed for more details and pictures, he just stopped posting, and dropped off the site. I'm sure it was a "fishing tale".

My '62 Pontiac Acadian Beaumont convertible has the "radio delete" option. I'm wondering about getting a"modern" one that appears old. So, a couple of questions:
1. Does anyone with a '62 have an original radio? Can you please post a good close-up pic of the front of it?
2. Anyone have any leads on where I might buy an old radio, but with modern insides?
Hi Sudds, and welcome back ( notice you joined june 2013 ). Im just around the corner from you in sooke, not a pro on first gen but would a 63 or 64 be the same? Found out a month ago my neighbour has a 63 or 64 (cant remember) convertible, could get pics if no one else replies and it's the same.

I don't have a picture but once you know what you are looking for I think the best way is to just buy a non working one for cheap and get it retroed with am/fm and ipod input. Will run you 4 to 5 hundred but money well spent. If you go that route I can give you a guy's name in Vancouver who did mine. I have enjoyed many hours of listening from it and it looks bone stock letting you qualify for collector plates here.
I'm not sure what you mean by "skipped a year" Jim.
Acadian converts were made 2 years. 62 you could get a regular convert with buckets or bench seat. 63 was the last year for an Acadian convert, first year for Sport Deluxe (all SD cars had buckets) and it was the only year you could buy a Sport Deluxe convertible.

Will the non-working one for $25 you mentioned be "complete" with knobs etc.... just not working?
Is it better for me to buy this and then take it to Woods, or???
Will you please contact me at SgtSudds@gmail.com with the answers. I will be in Richmond this Thursday and might be able to meet up Thursday evening.
i will look and see if there is a complete set of knobs
i just remember picking it up at the swap meet last year thinking someone can use it.
could also work, never tested it.
PM sent
