I just got done having my late father's slide collection scanned and came across the '69 Catalina that he had just newly bought. It's long gone and been turned into recycled metal. It was a 400 - 265hp non-AC car. Expresso Brown exterior and baby diaper gold interior. He paid $3,067.00 for it new. Thought I would share.
Its funny how these early impressions in life influence us throughout life. Once a wide-tracker... Now you've got a 69 2+2 (a sweet one). The skirts look good on the old Cat, and Expresso Brown also looks nice. Thanks for sharing.
I remember a bunch of 69 Pontiacs in my neighborhood back in 69, but nearly all were Laurentians. There was a Crystal Turquoise 4-door and a Verdoro Green 4-door with a black vinyl roof cover. My best friend's grandfather owned a silver Laurentian coupe with a black vinyl roof cover. That car would get polished after driving it 20 minutes and it was always in perfect condition. There was also a Mayfair Maize Parisienne 4-door hardtop with a black vinyl roof cover. That one was pretty rusty by the time it was replaced in 1974 with a new Parisienne. I do remember an Expresso Brown Parisienne 4-door with medium green interior, not a combo that would occur to me. It didn't look as bad as you would think. Another friend's older brother put their Midnight Green Parisienne 4-door into the smashup derby at the fall fair. I didn't think the car was in bad shape so I was shocked that he did it.
One thing about the U.S. Big Pontiacs was that they had a 400 V8 as a minimum. In Canada it was most common to see a 350-powered car or the occasional inline six. The 396 and 427 cars were a rare sight.

Used to be able to find them in the late 80's all over the place around here. I purchased 3 of them in a 5 year period. Highest I paid was $500 and they were solid running cars. Ended up selling them to people wanting to use them as "derby" cars.
