68 Parisienne 2+2

Just working away at my new aquasition, its a 68 Parisienne 2+2 with an apaarent 327 engine. Has some cancer here and there in the "normal" areas (fenders, floor, trunk). So I am 3/4 the way there to pass a goverment safety. So far I have replaced:

Ball joints, rear springs, rear shocks, a bit of wiring, put on some Flow tech "El cheapo" headers, "El cheapo" engine dress up kit, fixed a few things here and there, new Pypes exhaust coming next week and picking up some sheet metal to fab a few patches. I'll start a build thread in a while when I am further along.

Photos are from the day I brought her home.

Take Care!

Russ

Thanks alot guys, planning on using it at a daily driver while picking away at it. I sold my 68 GM truck for the Parisienne cause I miss driving a car. Couldn't pass on the deal I got. Rust repair will be extensive, but now that I have experience with my old truck I have a half clue. And yes, she's disc brakes. Thanks.

I'm a PFA ... I moved here from Ontario. My wife's an Islander. I live in French River (on the north shore).

Do you make it back here for a visit often?

Got some more work done to the old girl. Shes starting to look a little better. Like I said, El cheapo, for now anyway. I'll make her nice bit by bit. Shes gonna be my daily driver as soon as my "friggin"(PEI swear word, lol) exhaust from the place I bought it. Of course I am getting frustrated that its taken more than the stated 2 weeks, but that's how it goes. Paid full fare for it too, and now its late. Well, either way, I have time to pull out the interior and hunt for the floor rust. Leaned I had a occupant, but has long since vacated the property (left a lot of nest material for me to clean up). I think I will attempt to cover the seats myself, never done it before, other than aircraft seats, but love a challenge. Here's some progress photos. More to come!

PS- anyone have a photo of the original side mirrors and emblems on the rear. I know theres a 2+2 but not sure if the other one on the drivers rear on the trunk was a dealer tag or 2+2 or pontiac or whatever. Thanks

Russ

Here's the pics I promised a couple of days ago.

You'll see your 2+2 emblem on the trunk is correct, it just looks like it needs some orange colour in the letterings.

Here's a repro mirror I installed last summer which is exactly the same as original. It's really a Chev mirror without the bowtie detail :

You can get that mirror (without the bowtie, American Pontiac) at Ames Performance.

Well, I bought a Pypes Performance exhaust from Summit Racing. Been trying to fit it all together. First time, so its taking a while. Just want to do it right though. What a wonderful kit!!! Its fitting really nice and damn well built! I highly reccommend for sure. Paid 525 taxes/duty/shipping all in. So its budget priced, stainless steel (except the tail section is aluminized), mandrel bent and comes with all the hangars and clamps and both mufflers. Ill post finished photos............once I have finished.

Meanwhile, all the ball joints are done, springs, shocks, and started the floor repairs. Hopefully I'll be ready to take her for an inspection by the end of next week. Still trying to figure out what to do with the brakes. GM vintage confirmed its a power disc brake (front) optioned car but I am gonna have to fork out 80 bucks for the whole details, so that will wait, but its on the "to get list".

More to come!

Yes, I know the nice exhaust shouldnt be on the concrete, just laying it out before starting.

Are you wondering why your mirrors are different? Someone added one to the passenger side. They only came with a driver's side. And that one is correct - same as mine. Sorry I don't have a close up of the mirror. By the way, nice color combo.

Okay, Pypes performance exhaust installed. I ordered it from Summit racing and you know what, with the flow tech headers, she sounds friggin' mean! Love it! I'll try to post a video later. New tie rods, sleeves, ball joints, shocks, springs, brake hoses and so on installed. Mechanically she is sound for the time being... Cosmetically.......... my patch panes are straight out of the redneck hand book of "how to hit steel with a hammer like Jesse James with no talent and weld like a 4 year old" lol. The body work passed. Missed a small hole in the floor so I got to go back and tackle that along with a patch on the frame just below the drivers door hinge. I have to tighten a wheel bearing and a fix my headlight issue, but if I hammer away I could have her on the road by end of this week to mid next. Photos to come. Love these cars, I know now why you guys are so passionate about the old Ponchos. ;)
