Unknown connection and use. What is this?

Hi again

In the car I just bought came a piece with a wire but cuted in the other end of the line, not going to anywhere.  How can I know what is the use of this and where it must be connected? Attached picture, control in red circle.

Thanks for your help

Mauricio

what color is the wire?   Does it have a connector on the end of it, and if so what type of connector.   Given the location, I agree, it could either be for footwell lights, or more likely the wire to the passenger door switch for the dome light.

ok, lets call them courtesy lights.   Many convertibles have courtesy lights to provide some light on the interior.

Are you asking the original intended purpose?

That knob is a pull knob to open the kickpanel vent down by your feet,  there is one on each side.  Its a steel cable attached to the flap door inside the panel.

Yes convertibles have 2 underdash courtesy lights instead of a dome light.  In the same general area up under the dash coners.   usually a steel or plastic bracket with a orange and white wires to a bulb

No I still have it. Could be wiring for glove box light, which is optional.

the picture is not of my car, it is from this site. I found this picture and like it shows the knob, I put it for example. Sorry for any confussion.

My car is not convertible, it is a Beaumont 69 GTA coupe.

This is the answer for my question (I think):

"That knob is a pull knob to open the kickpanel vent down by your feet, there is one on each side. Its a steel cable attached to the flap door inside the panel."

Thanks to all.

Pictures soon, but only in the state I bought it, not restored yet.

Regards

Mauricio

the   way  i could   see it  , is  your  knob  (  vent  flap control )  is  missing  from the wire  that  controls  the   vent flap.
